Word of mouth brought this to me.

Sporterized :( but that's the only bad news. Metal is untouched, centre band and swivels is there, numbers all match and the bore is VG. Not bad for what I paid for it ;) and it even came with a WWI Lee Enfield sling (Wrights 1915) and 25 loaded rounds.

Picked up a German (Zella-Mehlis "JGA") single shot 22 for a song while I was there asking "what else ya got?".

Find yourself a shot out Spanish "M44 Airforce" rifle, take the stock, and you are back in business.

Na Pewno!;)

I have one and did a comparison, but the M44 I have is far too nice to break up. A few differences such as no bolt dissassembly washer in the buttstock, but it would "work".

I think czech VZ-24 stock might be the closest looking and easiest to find for a restoration.

Not to hijack, but I have seen a guy selling Polish Mauser stocks on E-bay, week after week. Anyone have the background on that? Seems to convenient, but maybe legit.

Andy if you ever sell, let me know!

Have a 1937 Wz98a Some IDIOT chopped off about 6 inches of the stock to "sportyize" it. Now wears K98 wood. The bluing is just about perfect.
Better to have that than a "bubba'd rifle"
But the original stock had Polish inspectors marks all over it. Unfortunately the stocks shown on EBay are for the other version. The Wz98a is an arsenal shortened long rifle.
