The only ammo I seem to be able to get in bulk the last 12-16 mos for my XD40 is Win RNFP 180 gr. I find that this causes an occasional failure to feed. No other ammo gives me any trouble. I was thinking that if I polish my feed ramp, I may resolve the issue. That being said, what is the best way to polish it and what kind of compound should I use?

Regards,

If this is only happening with one type of ammo, I don't think that polishing the feedramp will solve the problem, but it certainly won't hurt.

I keep mine pretty clean so all I do is slap on a bit of Hopps and polish it with a soft polishing tip on my Dremel tool. What ever you use, you don't want to start taking off material so nothing that's too abrasive...

If Gunnar from Armco is reading...he may want to chime in...he's probably polished more than his share of ramps...

"i did the same thing on my xd40 when i got it. i polished the ramp with a dremel it never jams"

motoman,
What dremel bit did you use, a fine sandpaper disk?
Xray

Use a Foredom or Dremel felt polishing bob on a .125 shaft. You can get them at Lee Valley or CT. Any polishing compound will work fine. I have green and white that I use for honing my wood carving tools. Boomer686 drop by and see what I got.:)
