You can't go wrong with Pelican, Hardigg, a drag bag or even some of the other less expensive cases on the market (unless you plan to fly with it).

I bought a SKB case a number of years ago and couldn't be happier with it. A bit more money for no extra features though. I would have gone with one of the other brands if I knew more back then.

For me it depends how much room I have in the vehicle which decides which case I take. Usually it's one of my cheaper cases or the drag bag.

It seems a little silly to put a $3000+ rifle with $2000 glass in a $49.99 case. While a drag bag or cheap case is nice and easy to carry, if I'm doing anything more than carrying it arround the house, I'd buy a good case for it.

I really like the pelican with the wheels built in. They're not that heavy or bulky and well suited to carrying to the range. For air travel I'd go heavier. Get a hard sided aluminum case with some reinforcement and strength. Airport monkey's are really hard on gear.

Most Good quality Dragbags Run around $250.00 and up.

I have no problem "dragging" around my $4000.00+ rifle with it's $4000.00 scope in the Arktis Dragbag I bought from Farmboy. The good dragbags are VERY well padded, and hold the rifle securely.

If the Cdn. & U.S. Military Snipers can tranport their rifles through deployments and in the field without any damage to their rifles in Dragbags, I think my rifle will be OK.;) :p :D

What would seem silly to me, is a guy trying to wheel his Starlight/Pelican case through the bush/field................

Yeah I completely trust my Artkis as well. Excellent piece of kit.

I've flown wiht rifles several times, although infrequently, and I've always kicked myself for not having agood aluminum case yet...If I was a bit more frequent flyer, I'd have got on by now, interested in suggestions...

I run Kalispel aluminum cases....heavy???? yep, but I cant tell you the number of times I've told myself Im sure glad I have that case. Don't think of it as just a case to hold your rifle, think of it as protection for your investment. I've had my rifles in the back of my truck and it doest take much of a bump when heading on a hunting trip, local or far away to knock the crap out of a good zero or bounce the hell out of a rifle. If you fly they are aircraft aproved, have a rubber seal and are water and air tight.

I also have dragbags that I transfer my rifle to when in the bush. As mentioned above the steel case is a ##### in the field.

Just an opinion.

Not too sure why someone would spend 350$+ for a case even though I know Pelicans would be the best choice..

Mine are just in a drag bag type case like Rohann or just a $40 plastic case.

I would spend the remainder of the $$ on better optics or ammo etc..

X2 I have a pelican 1750 and wouldnt trade it for anything else.

I'm using a Tiger Tactical SF Drag Bag and scope cover ( w w w.getsometactical.com) for regular range trips but also have a Hardigg case for trips where I would be concerned with hard protection.

The bag/cover combo gives 3/4" closed cell protection around the scope and 3/8" for the whole system. I don't know the differences between the Storm and Pelican cases but the Storm is good enough for PGW so it's more than sufficient for me.

I was just at the Shooting Edge this weekend. They have a collection of americase aluminium rifle and pistol cases. They were incredible.

While I can see the merit of using a drag bag in the bush, most of the time I want a case it's to travel, fly, or truck rifles to and from ranges, competitions or remote hunting locations.

Cases are great if you're flying or otherwise worried about wrecking your rifle....but man the are heavy and a pain in the ass.Get yourself a quality dragbag and leave it in that for everyday use. When I fly I use a pelican but I take out all the crap and stuff the rifle and dragbag inside. When I get to my destination the case gets left somewhere safe and the rifle lives and works out of the bag.Its way less hassle and just plain lighter.

I just picked up a pelican 1750 5 hours ago in states for 200 USD with pick and pluck foam. and the nice cusoms lady let me go without paying any duty and tax. :D

I've been using 1700 for my blaser take down rifle. I like the quality.

+1 for pelican.

I have to agree that the DoskoSport cases are nice. I just got one and have to say I was impressed especially since it only cost $115.00 at LeBarons.

I use to have one of the Pelican 1750's before, but I sold it when I sold the rifle I used it for. Very please with the Dosko though.

There is another brand of case almost identical to the Pelican from UK International (Underwater Kinetics) but are abit harder to find.

The company I work for use to sell the Pelican cases until they found the UK cases. Now we sell them since they are cheaper in price than the Pelican's without sacrificing quality. :D
