My wife likes full size .22 (CZ 75 Kadet, Kimber Rimfire Target Conversion Kit over 1911). Sig 226 with conversion kit is not bad too :)

Another vote for the GSG 1911. Mine runs great on bulk ammo and they are real cheap to get in the first place. I also have a .22 kit for my Glock 17 that works real well but is fussy about ammo - however - when ready to step up from the .22 it's just a slide change, not a whole new gun.

OP, sorry to be horrendously late with pictures. Had to go out of town for work. Keep in mind that all surfaces were painted when I unboxed the firearm. Any area that looks like its bare metal has been worn down.

As you can see, at a glance, looks fine after 1500 rounds.

Where you really see the wear is friction points. Here you can see where the slide contacts the rail on the frame has worn down from the slide cycling.

Here, the rail has been polished clean due to the slide cycling, and a bit of sandpaper (to accelerate it).

Here, you can see where in the front part of the frame, its also been worn down to metal from the bottom of the slide rubbing on it.

Slight scuff on the slide.

Finally, some wear on the barrel and the recoil spring plug.

That said, none of these things have adversely affected the pistol. In fact, the wear has actually caused it to cycle better. If your girlfriend doesn't mind that, it's a great pistol!

Thanks for the pics :) were still deciding but she loves the way the browning 1911-22 sits in her hands. only downside I see is the crappy sights.

IMHO, the sights on the GSG aren't great either, but they get the job done. That said, plenty of aftermarket options for the GSG.

Too bad you're in Sask, I'd ask you two to meet me at the range so she could at least give the GSG a chance. Regardless of her choice, hope she has a lot of fun.

I bought a browning 1911-22 and didn't set it down for the first month, absolutely love the thing, eats any ammo, I don't find the sights that terrible, but I had planned to put a white dot on the front, I highly suggest this gun to anyone with hands that will fit it.

And as for accuracy, this is at 10 yards. It's two three shot groups. And guess where the 6th hole is...

I have the Browning 1911 .22 with over 3000 rounds though it without any problems and have used it for several hand gun courses and works perfectly. I also have other pistols and calibers and it's still my favovorite ( but it was also my first handgun ). I will never sell it.

I had a Buckmark Camper as a first gun and I swore I would never sell it...traded it for a really nice guitar and kind of missed having a .22 pistol so I bought a Browning 1911-22 and to be honest the 1911-22 is more reliable..so far 2 failures in over 1000 rounds one due to faulty ammo the other failure to feed not sure why.
The Camper was easy to shoot well, the 1911-22 takes more effort to shoot well and requires careful trigger control...on the plus side it is so small and light that I can take it to the range every time.
Here is a picture of the 1911-22 compared to a Walker .44 cal. my biggest gun to date:

Another vote for the GSG 1911. Pistols are addictive. When (not if) she moves to another caliber, she will be hard pressed to find something as small as the Browning 1911. If she can learn to handle the GSG, she can learn to handle anything. Also, it's cheaper than the Browning. Cheaper means more money for ammunition.

Another reason why I love the GSG? AWESOME SUPPORT! If there's any issues, you'll likely find a response here, and the folks at Blue Line (the importer) are constantly stepping up to make the customer happy. That in itself is worth its weight in gold.

+1 :)

For the money I would say get a CZ Kadet. great gun and you also get great sights as well, but they are not cheap but in the long run worth every penny you spend on them.

It sounds like you have made up your mind to buy the browning 1911 so go ahead and get it.
