Poll : Calibers and Lengths for Drop-On Bren 2 Barrels ?

Cannot import pistols, cant import ARs, one being frozen, one being prohibited, so no, double negative does not work in our favor here.
unless I'm misunderstanding your comment

There is a separate thread here about repairs/renewals and purchasing new ATC firearms for wilderness carry here that i glimpsed past a few weeks ago too.

I was pointing out the obvious problems to the original poster

I see a lot of people asking for restricted barrels that exist in the factory versions of these already.. like 14” 556
Why not just buy that model or make do with the 11” or whatever. Seems to me this is more an opportunity to convert to NR class, in whatever tiger hunting rocket scientist cartridge that’s being asked for..
just because it can be doesn’t mean it should be..
Beowulf Brens aren’t exactly going to fly off the shelves

would be awesome if we could get uppers to have restricted uppers to pop on and off our lowers

The upper IS the gun. To put costs into perspective the lower has an MSRP of $45 USD...

Interesting idea if you could get one imported as a pistol to be eligible for an ATC with the handgun ban in place

I assume most people haven’t gone through the wilderness ATC process, certainly many considering it these days for the transfer loophole…

So fun fact: ATC paperwork states “restricted firearm or prohibited handgun” and doesn’t exclusively specify pistol. For proof of proficiency testing it has to be holsterable from belt.

This is my crack pot Sunday morning idea loop hole. Ultimately you’d have to apply with your CFO listing your certificate number and firearm id number on the application and all up to the CFO on a one on one basis assuming the .357 cal minimum is met. A loose hypothetically a CFO could grant it. Probably won’t and it depends on province.

Frankly semi auto guns in for wildlife defense in extreme cold doesn’t add up to me. But this could extend to restricted lever actions in big bore chamberings

But we don’t need to have this descending onto a chaotic ATC thread as there is one of those already.

If 300 AAC is the go to for all the reasons Dlask stated, then I’d buy it. If ever we get suppressors legal, we could hit the ground running with that setup. I’d want an 11” barrel.

Sorry, there will be no 20" 5.56. It just does not make sense since no one will ever notice the difference between 18.7 inches and 20 inches.

We have the 7.62 caliber bolt head all modelled up and will be off to the proto shop early next week. Once those get made we will be 85% on our way to a true and full drop-on caliber conversion kit to change your 5.56 rifle to a 7.62 rifle and then back again. ( :

The 300AAC barrels will shortly follow so it will be quite conceivable to own one rifle and three barrels all in different calibers.

Who's your daddy ?

Please don’t make us say it…you know the answer lol.

Will the 7.62x39 barrels come in an 18.6” length? I’d love to use my Bren 2 for hunting.

NR in 300BLK

ordered the Dlask trunnion kit and likely will use it for the original CZ 11" CHF barrel in 5.56

thinking would like to swap the converted 223 wylde NR barrel to a NR 300 BLK barrel & bolt

Not going to happen. No point. 300AAC is best for short reasons.

You asked “who’s your daddy”…anyways, 18.6” 7.62x39 barrels?

Oh eff me, sorry, I had the dumb yesterday. And YES to 476mm conversion kits in 7.62x39. We got the ebolt model finished yesterday so as soon as my test rifle in 7.62 shows up from the distributor (early next week I hope) that sample bolt and the drawing will be off to the CNC shop to rapid proto a sample. If it's good then bolt head production should sail along rather quickly.

We can make these as fast as CZ can get us extractors and firing pins ! Then we will have three calibers ready and waiting for the Bren 2.

Correct
A stripped upper would be NR by default
Meaning we can buy your caliber conversion in say.. x39
And assemble an upper to pop on our lowers

Or we can call in to have the upper restricted

Unfortunately that is incorrect. There is no such thing as 'default' for firearms, we have already asked this about other guns.

Basically what the rule of thumb is for the RCMP means the last known status of a firearm is what it stays as if it is stripped to 'Frame / Receiver Only'. So if you strip a Restricted Bren 2 down to just it's upper then the upper (serialized component or "Gun" per the Firearms Act) is still 'Restricted' until it gets officially verified with a N/R length barrel.

Long story short, there is NO way to get a 'Drop-on' complete upper for these. That applies to AR-15 rifles, not the Bren 2. The closest we can get to that is what we are doing now which would be drop-on caliber conversion kits.

Also, the upper on these guns is about 95% of the total value of the gun in parts so it is a no brainer to just buy a complete new rifle, strip it and sell what you don't need instead of trying to just source the expensive bit...
