Hey Shell Shucker don't you feel a bit undergunned with that outfit? I don't see a belt feed for one thing. How do you get your 9th and 10th follow-up shot in? You are shooting at 16 yards after all, that means the bird is somewhere around 30 yards or so when you shoot it. I suppose 3 drams is OK, but only at the 16 and only with #2 or better and only with 1 1/8 oz or better. Personally I think 1 1/4 is a minimum and most guys would move up if they were any further back, for sure. Remember that tricked out Mossbergs are only used by quiet types doing close up work on a personal basis. They don't really set up for shooting at things further out;). Fred

For about a G'note I put together a nice trap gun that produces great
patterns and recoils less than a Ljutic Space Gun.(Tried one in the 80's)
Besides, it goes with me wardrobe mate!

Good on ya! No argument about the outfit going with the gun:cool:...I think both are great and so are the photos! Have always had a sneaky desire to try a floating dot scope in trap but, so far, I haven't gotten up the guts even though I have one on my model 870. With encouragement like you provide I might just get up the nerve. Have a friend who says he tried one, though I didn't see it myself! He said he couldn't find anything in the rules against it and could hit really well using one. The screams from other players could be heard in the next county, however, and he quit doing it. Actually he sold completely out and started shooting rifle...pretty sad... Fred

Fred,
You should try out the holo-sight, it will change your game once you
get used to it. My gun wears the Bushnell model which is no longer
marketed under that name. The Eotech 552 is the same sight but
costs more. I also like the Burris Fastfire II sight because of its' small
size, but it has auto brightness control which I don't like as much as
manual control. (I adjust the brightness of the dot to a lower level
than the brightness of the claybird.)

Go the complete setup like with my Mossy 835 and you'll get lots
of looks at the club, but you'll have a super performing gun that
is shooter adjustable and ultra soft on recoil with zero muzzle climb.
The most common thing shooters ask me at shoots is
"What kind of sight is that? Can I have a peek through it?"
I've yet to have anyone give me stain over my rig, but you can
almost hear the gears turning in their heads when they first see it.

 SS

Modified in the first barrel and full in the second. That works "best" for me, but you could also get away with skeet in the first barrel, depends how quick you are.

Well since this thread has derailled i have shot 16yd with my Win 42 410 bore 3'' 7 1/2 shot that is a challenge . Don't own a 28 ga at this time but it would be a fun ga. to shoot 16yd with. Un decided which 28ga to get budget or spend some money Caesar Guerini

i was shooting modified weh i first started. then a old timer said that some misses was my pattern was going around the clay. i went to full choke and my scores jumped from 15-16 up to 20-21 with a 23 high. only been to the range 5 or 6 time but i am pleased

Congratulations on picking up your scores by about 5 targets. With all due respect to the old timer, and your shooting ability, I do not think that there would be 5 targets per round where shot would be going around a centered target. There are other things that would better account for more targets, the most obvious being improved pointing.

for trap i only use Full. never changed to anyother.. Feels like chokes dont make any difference even its cylinder or full. if u hit u hit. if u miss u miss.
