I wear shooting gloves when I shoot full power .454 Casull ammo out of my Ruger Super Redhawk.

Does anyone else?

Only those who shoot .454 Casull, .460 or .500 SW please.

whoa whoa whoa, what about us .50AE shooters? what are we pussies now? For the record, I don't wear girly gloves when I shoot my Desert Eagle. nor do I wear a skirt or high heels when I shoot it, like you obviously do when you shoot your little .454.

take that.

:p

Pfffttt.... semi auto..... :slap:

I can understand the desire to wear gloves with the stock Ruger grip, however the grips on my Raging Bull are fantastic. Makes firing the beast easy. The shock/concussion blast however, can play havoc with your hairdo, assuming u have any left:D

I've never found it necessary with the 454, so long as the grips fit well. The 50AE feels a bit softer still, bt that's probably the extra weight of the gun, and the semi-auto action soaking up some of the recoil. Never fired a 460 or 500. I've tried a few 3" slugs through an 18" shotgun with pistol grips, and that seemed harder on the wrists than anything

Sniff, I'm not mad, just really, really hurt. :D

I meant at the range. In the field for ATC use, I don't wear gloves for the revolver.

I wear gloves most of the time at the range when I am playing with hot loads, mostly because I find the stock grip uncomfortable and also the cylinder release tends to reach out and bite my thumb.

I know I am manly man enough to shoot without the gloves but am comfortable enough with masculinity that I can wear them without feeling inferior ;)
Cheers

I never do with my 500 S&W, all I shoot is 400 to 500 gr cast with near maximum loads, hell I have even shot 500 gr loads with one hand. But then again I don't shoot boxes and boxes of ammo at a time either. The 500 S&W grip isn't too bad for soaking up the recoil. I was thinking about getting a 600 gr mould but I think that would be a bit too crazy to shoot.

If I am at the range I usually wear a shooting glove on my right hand or if it is cold out I wear a leather glove and when I know I am going to be shooting 50 or so 405gr 1300fps loads out of my 4.25" SRH I wrap my wrist up with a neoprene wrist wrap/brace.

When in the bush with my ATC it depends entirely on the weather or what I am doing can't have gloves on when my hands are in the water...

I shot a 454 Casull for the first time the other day and I had no gloves but I sure will put a pair (of gloves) on if I ever shoot one again again! The recoil and noise blew my mind.

I fully intend to be eligible to answer this question by years end! It'll probably be no. The S&W 460 just looks so damn ###y everytime I see it, I know it's just a matter of time.

I actually find the 454Casull 400 gr near max loads to be gentler and less snappy than the 300 grainers at near max. I would love to try a 600gr out of a 500 :)

Ummmmmm, yes! I don't like to get my fingerprints everywhere,or powder burns (I'm just a really clean person, thats all)!

I have a 460V and while I haven't shot any heavy reloaded 454's out of it (YET), I have shot quite a load of factory rounds. They remind me of factory 44 Mag out of my 5" 629. Not so the Hornady factory 460 rounds. That's just different - real different. I've only managed to put about 50 of them through the 460 so far. They definitely light up the surroundings and part my hair. No gloves with any of it, but 20 460's in a session are about my limit. This isn't from the recoil, heat or light, but from the massive concussion. Most times I work down from that with 20-50 454's and 50-100 45LC. The long colts feel like 22's from my Ruger after the heavier stuff previously. Even if I don't shoot the heavy stuff, the 45LC in the 460V feel lighter than 38 special in my 627.
