Since I run the stats for mdpl.ca, and have done a few of the larger tac carbine events in Virden. I've been able to get things down to an art for getting the scores out.

Step One, pick one time slot early am to shoot early then go directly to input scores. Do same for the afternoon.

Step Two, for last stage, shoot first, then input the remaining scores, sit in truck and drink copius amounts of water waiting for the last shooter to finish, and have the RSO yell the score over to you.

Step 3, Sort and tabulate scores based on stage, and overall stats. Send USB Memory Stick back to Clubhouse with a runner to print off while you gather up your gear.

Step 4, Announce results, and provide pdf of score sheet for email out.

I really like doing the stats, thankfully I have a laptop and a designated helper (Wittman or Glen Valour), with them reading out the scores, it speeds it all up. It's a great feeling being able to help out, and make sure things run smoothly.

That being said, I have no time of day for shooters that go off and complain. My solution is to stop puttting your name on the scoresheet. Suck it up princess, and start giving back.

That's because whoever is doing the stats for that match hasn't sent them to IPSC Ontario yet.

A small Lev 1 Match set up Fri. 05 Jan 08... 21:00hrs to 01:35hrs. First round down range 10:00hrs Sat...last shot fired 16:00hrs......Match results finalized and posted 16:22hrs...BEER down range by 17:10hrs....Results emailed to IPSC ONT and all competitors by 21:24hrs......

Dam imagine that.....x4 med, and x2 long...110rds, built, shot, torn down and results out in just about 24 hrs....THE EAST ROCKS....oh wait, a,, a, in Ontario now ....ONT ROCKS..ya.....lol

Cheers
BMW

I must say, those guys from the east sure do know how to put on a good match....even if they have to put 'em on in Ont! Our waitress after the match noticed they have some difficulty ordering a beer though!.....Must have been all that lead dust!:p

I just love these guys that think that the stats should be done and posted before their gun cools off from shooting the last stage...things to consider about stats at a match.
1. Was the match running on time or behind because nobody was helping to patch?
2. What level of match was it and DID THEY have a pc on site to do the scores there.?
3.Was the match director also the person that does the stats even if they did them at home?
4.Did the MD take them to the stats person ASAP or leave them in a secure spot at the range for the stats person to pick them up whenever had time to do it?
One last thing ...quickly posted match results is still a young thing due to the internet and PC's in most but not all homes... not all that long ago EVERYBODY had to wait until the next SITREP ( in Ontario) was published to see the results sometimes several months if the Mail didn't get to the persons responsible for the Sitrep in time to publish the results in time.
As far as getting rid of the sitrep ...give your heads a shake there are still PPL out there that do not have a PC and never will... I myself like the hard copy to keep as a quick reference for information when I don't want to boot up the PC

There is a lot of good advise on this thread. I have a lot of empathy for the good people who organize and run these events. But I think its important to get timely results. I don't think its unreasonable for the power that be send out a directive that match results should be posted within twenty-four hours for a Level I match, forty-eight hours for a Level II match, and seventy-two hours for a Level III match. These goals should be achievable given the tools we have available.

Not to pick on you at all..........frankly because I have no idea who you are or what you do in terms of matches..

However this sentence really struck me as a tad odd.

You have empathy for the good people who organize and run these events.....

Well my first instinct of course was a standard .........You are most welcome.

Then........it struck me.........does this mean you do not help run matches? Even one a year?

I just cannot understand that sort of mind set. I run matches.........because matches need to be run or we have no sport. End of story. If everyone was only thankful for the matches and nobody actually helped run them......well we would have no matches to worry about.

I cannot imagine playing in a sport that is run by volunteer power only and not standing up to help at least a few matches each year.

I am not saying that EVERYONE has to help at EVERY match.........but one or two per year as a minimum would only seem reasonable to me.
