Quick poll here for hunters

When you guys go out hunting how often are you stopped by fish and game to check to see if you are up to snuff. As in you have your certs, your card, your tags etc.

The poll is limited, but answer it as best you can. This would be for any time that you go out in the bush and plan to do hunting, whether it be for coyotes that don't require a tag, or for things that do require a tag, doesn't matter.

Whatever you do vote, if you can post where you live, how many times (roughly) you've gone hunting, and what the circumstances were.

Thanks

I hunt around 40-50 days just for waterfowl a season, never once seen a CO yet in 3 years. My dads been hunting for 35 years. Never seen or talked to one while waterfowl hunting but he has met a few when he would go up north deer hunting.

Last year in BC while hunting, CO said they do not care about your reg. certs. Just wanted to make sure the rifles were unloaded in the truck and we all had valid hunting lics.

have only been checked since being up in the NWT (last 4 years), been checked 3 times, 1) just happened to be walking out of the woods as the CO drove by, just bullsh^^ed and checked licence, 2nd) caribou hunting up on the ice roads (everyone get checked up there) 3rd) in the mackenzie mountains (had to drive by the CO shack everyday to get to hunting spot) as far as i'm concerned just like everything else, be good to them and they are good to you,

in over 30 years of hunting only stopped a few times but one evening stopped by CO and Leo were asked to get out of our vehicle as CO wanted to check our guns. I got out the drivers door and the moron reached in and pulled my rifle out with the business end of the barrel pointed right at himself.if the gun had been loaded, which he was checking for, he could have been killed [and before the bashing starts I DON'T drive around with loaded guns in a vehicle]wondered where he took his gun safety course. the rest of the times just friendly checks and a bit of chit chat.

I rarely see them in the bush, mostly on highway road checks.

Went through one last week, we had a good chat about hunting season, and then cars were backing up behind me, so I left.

They had a few people pulled over for some reasons...

Had one check my gear when i was out fishing and one other time they searched our camp for game(we weren't hunting), pulled out all out rifles and made a comment 'cool AK-47' regarding my CZ-858:D, then off they went.

Maybe 3 times in the last 15 yrs.

Have seen then and chatted with them several times but wasn't checked.
My old Caribou hunting buddy back home was a CO. He was as down to earth and as much an everyday hunet as anyone.

He HATED litter though.

He always had a good supply of saltfish as well ;) It's good to be CO checking for fish in the off season, ... everyone would give him a few and by the end of the summer, he had more than most.

Stopped by the Copps once on the hiway between Grande Prairie and Grande Cache after duck hunting. Very interesting story, perhaps for a different thread though, actually it was two Copp cars and they pulled U ies in the middle of the hiway and the othe on locked up in front of me
:)

I had to check NEVER.

Conservation Officers (CO):

Fish and Game

Is this:
A Provincial group of volunteer's.
Ie. The Alberta Fish and Game Association.

I've never been stoped by a CO or someone from the Fish and Game.

On the other hand it seems quite normal to be stopped at least once a year by a Fish and Wildlife Officer, although this year I never even saw one, but in our area right now they are short one Officer.;)

FWIW: I see polls as being most often used by strippers and dogs.:D
