Was asked for my papers once, 15 years ago while fishing. Had friendly chats with CO's over the last 15 years maybe 5 times, not once did they ask for lic's etc., but more wanted to know how the hunt went, and was there anything they could do for me. All in all, good experiences, and friendly attitudes.

I was never checked until last year. Now this year due to increased enforcement and just plain being in the areas they frequent, I have been checked 3 times (ok 2 were not real checks but more of a friendly visit) and once by the city police while hunting on the edge of city limits.

The only time I see the CO's is during the controlled deer hunt in SW Ontario , but I've yet to show them my ID.
Had a nice chat with one last year...she was actually rather pretty ;).

On average I would say that I've been stopped for a license check once per season in southern Alberta. There are years where we don't get stopped, and years that we get stopped several times. I almost always find the fish cops to be reasonable, and sometimes even helpful. A few officers have given us advise on where to go.

Once, twenty years ago, and the CO doing the checking almost shot my dad in the head while neglegently inspecting a rifle that he was clearly told had a full mag in it.

When I started hunting over 30 years ago in Saskatchewan,I used to get checked once each year, just to check licenses. It was basically a formality, since we knew the local CO very well, and he knew that we followed the rules.Since moving to Alberta,I have never been checked while hunting, outside of the mandatory game check ins at camp Wainright.I have driven through many highway checks, but when we travel to and from our hunting area,we have all of our guns and gear in the back under a bed cover and wear street clothes.Usually when the officer sees no guns or hunting clothes in the cab,we get waved through without any questions at all.If any questions are asked,it is usually "Are you hunting" to which we honestly reply," not today".We are then always waved through.

I regularly hunt 4 counties in AB, and have only ever been checked in 1 of the 4, and I get checked in that same one every year. The officer is a great guy, and now when I see him somewhere I usually make a point of heading over and checking in, that way he leaves me alone while I am actually hunting because he already knows I have all my licenses and such.

The districts here are huge, and the CO's/F&W officers (depending on your province) usually spend most of their time in the high traffic areas, otherwise they could drive around every day of the season and rarely travel the same road twice.

Got checked this year. Got checked last year. Got checked the year before that. Got checked by the police 4 times one season about 5 years ago and one of those got ugly (an obvious citiot RCMP constable trying to extend own personal ethos into the realm of law -- she went away mad).

I've been through one road block in 10 years of hunting, and had a co come to my house once to inquire about a kill a member of my hunting party made. Its sad, they are so under staffed and over worked. Cut backs in the wrong areas and spending on usless other crap.

I have hunted for 17 years, Bow Rifle, muzzleloading, and have been checked once. I hunt in Rural Manitoba. The area that CO have to cover here is insane. I wish there was a great CO presense, as it may cause people to actually tag their deer, follow bag limits, get permission, not shoot off roads, etc etc. I have no issue with getting stopped, I follow the laws.

i have been hunting for 22 years and never checked, been fishing for 25 years never been checked, most wardens that i know are to lazy to get out of the pick-up truck

In the last 40 yrs or so, I have never been checked in S Ont deer hunting.
I have been checked several times in N Ont moose hunting.

I have far fewer than 40 years experience (maybe 10) but same for me. Moose hunting up in North Western Ontario (including a lot of time on the highway) nearly every year we would hit either a road stop (coming/going or even during) or a spot check while setting up or finishing.

In Southern Ontario I stay pretty exclusive on enclosed private property and have yet to see a CO.

Brad.

I'll ussually get stopped once a year.He checks my licence and that my guns not loaded. After that if I see him he'll either waive me through or just a quick check of the rifle to see that it's unloaded.I like seeing them out there, wish there was more of it,our guy was telling me the area he covers and it's just huge.

Not once in last 10 years, couple times before that. Makes me wonder when guys get all riled up when they do get stopped. I would not mind seeing some more enforcement.

The wardens stop by every year at our moose camp.. but they don't check anything (No papers, no hanging moose, etc) .. just ask what we have shot, and talk for a few mins.. Nice guys really.. they know we are not a problem..

Pretty much every trip out when we are camped. We use the same spots every year and we go around the same time so the CO stops in to say hi. He actually doesn't check us anymore he just stops in and talks with my wife and I.
