Poll: knife carrying

All day every day. And because I use it everyday. Simple answer I know. Currently a CRKT M16-14ZLEK. I like the seat belt cutter and carbide glass breaker, but those are two feature I hope I never need.

I have carried a knife with me since grade school.
Reason being, it's possibly the single most important tool in human evolution.
It gets used daily for a multitude of essential uses.
Current tool of choice is a Spyderco Endura 4 with semi serrated blade.

Yes, depends on task atleast one sometimes 4

I own a farm nuff said, I also carry trauma shears the past year, other than things that need stabbing or tip work it's one of my favorites EDC items and in town no one cares you have scissors on your belt.

I've got a Swiss.

Used it to separate some boxes of coffee substitute in a local store recently, to disable a foul smelling room "deodorizer" in a hotel once, peel apples, cut cheese, open bottles, tighten screws, etc.

Slashed a deer's jugular vein with it once when it was all I had in my pocket and didn't want another bullet hole in the animal.

Yes, every day. A multi-tool for work, a different multi-tool for off work.

The basis of intelligence, in my opinion, is when presented with a problem how fast a being will look to a tool to achieve it safer, easier and quicker. A knife adds an instant "go to" tool by which to achieve.

Absolutely yes, every day. Started carrying a knife in grade school. No "weapons" are allowed at work, so I call mine a "grapefruit peeler". My EDC is a Benchmade Emerson spec war model cqc7 unless I'm traveling and then I'll throw a cheap Gerber in my luggage. Use it every day, from opening packages to sharpening pencil. I'd feel naked without one!

When I'm out in the country, all the time. In the city, not as much as I should. They come in handy, that's for sure. Been in a few situations where a knife made life tenfold easier. Definitely something someone should always have on hand; they are useful tools after all.

Everyday.

I also keep a multi-tool of some description - small, pocket sized for work, hip version for after work (except when flying, then it's iny checked bag). A handful of tools which are useful everyday for opening boxes, removing splinters, fixing things - all sorts of uses, that if I was without these implements, I would not feel useful or independent; these characteristics are important to me.

A pocket knife and a multi tool give me a sense of security and resourcefulness, in that I'm able to make and fix things that have others stumped (I'm in the city these days, but didn't start out that way).

So, Baden-Powell instructed, 'always be prepared,' and long ago my father taught me to be resourceful; with my pocket knife and multi-tool, I am.

Its part of my "dress" ensemble. The only time I don't have a knife is if I'm naked. At the moment my work one is a Cold Steel Recon 1 (half serrated/great for cutting) and my casual after work is a Benchmade Barrage (changes to a mini barrage in the summer).

usually keep a multi tool knife in door pockets of our vehicles . very handy . about 50 / 50 I will have a heavy duty folding knife I found hunting around 76 to 78 ish . No name on it and it has 4 finger grooves on the back bone side of handle . Kinda by mistake I found that it is very very comfortable in the hand if your clenched hand contacts another object while at speed . Musta been designed for that purpose ??

Yep. For many years. Probably close to 50. My laptop case has my Leatherman. My pocket has a Spyderco Endura stainless semi serrated. When I am in fancy clothes for some reason, I will change the Spyderco with a nicer knife. I only forgot twice when flying. Once, a Spyderco sat in the plastic bowl and went though Xray. Recently, the Leatherman was caught by the CBSA folks. Thankfully, I was able to ship it home.
