Question. I have an older Franchi shotgun[love the gun] I had it cut down from 32" to 26'. Is it possible to silver solder a Polychoke onto toe barrel? I don't think the barrel is thick enough to cut threads into.:jerkit:

Have a smith look at it that is familiar with fitting thin wall choke tubes like colonial , briley etc.
That would be a better route and increase gun value vs poly choke which will reduce it.
To answer the question yes a poly choke could be fitted but the correct diameter has to be obtained not all 12ga for example are the same and I am not sure if any smith's still install them.
I did my own here a few months ago on a old 870 but I was replacing one that the collet was cut off but the rest was still in the barrel so no machine work was required. I got the solder off e-bay

Some of the older Franchi shotguns have a chrome bore, and i am pretty sure you can't get them cut to fit an invector type choke....Aleast that is what I was told by a smith about my Franchi 48AL

Not true Your smith doesn't do a lot of tubes by the sounds of it.Briley and many others can do them.
Not my words.
If you are installing a lot of screw-in chokes, and do a lot of fixed choke adjusting, you should consider investing in a Sunnen sizing hone. These machines make short work of chrome removal and they can usually be obtained quite cheaply. Ask your local automotive machinist where to find one; they are the same machines used to size connecting rods and king pins.

This method of removing chrome is the fastest I’ve found and should take only a few minutes. Most shops charge a little extra when chrome has to be removed before choke installation.
