Poly Technology & Norinco M305, info needed

New here, did a search but didn't come up with much.

Question: What is the difference between Poly Technologies and Norinco M305's? I did a little research between the two but am still scratching my head.
I'm truly confused.

Just picked up a Poly M305 so I'd like to know. The serial number starts with 2009 so I'd assume it was made in 2009. Thinking of doing a build with it but want to know exactly what I'm dealing with before dolling out any cheddar.

Any info would be helpful.

You may wish to browse the Battle Rifles forum, where all they can talk about is the Norinco M14 copies.

This forum is for the diet rifles, in reduced-fat .223 caliber.

Welcome to the forum. Read the stickies and do some searches to get the basics down to learn and understand.

Yes 2009 is the year it was imported. It doesn't mean newer is better, but helps distinguish between batches.

There is no practical difference between Norinco and Polytech rifles. These are company names, assembling parts from the same assortment of builders. There are subtle manufacturing differences between the import batches, but the companies have nothing to do with the changes.

If you search the forum for postings by a guy tagged as Different. He has an on-line reference book that will explain this better.

Norinco & Poly ? Just different brands from different high school shop/Tech classes in China!

Seriously, they are both great! I had a Poly M14 back in Aug 2009. Loved it!

Now I've got a 2007 Norc to play with, it's all good!

If I had to choose 1 to start off with it would be the new batch of Norinco 2009 M14 with the bayonet lug. These 1's came out of the box in great shape and there has only been a few that I have seen with very minnor issue's. Plus the old 2007 Chu-Wood was extremly "HAZMAT" to say the least. Now the real question your should be asking is...
Do I buy 500 MFS rounds or 1,000 @ $0.60 a shot?
P.S. Do an advance search on them and if possible try them before you buy to see witch model you prefer more than the other. As I still love my old '07 "HAZMAT" model.
