Polymer 45

First choice would be the CZ97. One of the best .45autos out there. The M&P in .45acp is nice but the .45acp is a handfull to shoot in a light weight poly gun from my experience. The HK is a nice pistol but over priced IMHO. It is also a very big gun.

Take care

I'm by no stretch of the imagination a big guy and the M&P45 is my first pistol. Definetly not a handful, it shoots lighter than some 9mm's I have fired.

Everyone I've talked to about the 45 M&P says it's a better gun than the 9 or 40, with the exception that the trigger starts out worse and then gets better. The most common comments I've heard is "match grade accuracy" followed by "pussycat to shoot". I'm thinking of selling my 9 to get one, and I LOVE my 9.

My wife loves shooting it! With light handloads of course. She didn't like the
Glock 17 9mm or the M&P9

I just saw a M&P45 in the exchange for $550:mad:
I paid $699 :slap:

When I said the .45 version is a handful, everything is relative. Ther is more recoil from the M&P .45acp than there is with my full size 1911. You can't avoid Newtons Law of motion. I like my M&P and the design. But recoil is relative and if you are looking for a soft shooting .45acp you aren't likely going to get it in a light weight poly gun.

Thanks for the info Wendell.
Are the grips as large on the HK45 ?

The grip on the HK45 is much nicer than the USP 45. It is thinner and the back strap is interchangeable to suit your hands.

The HK45 has a slightly lower bore axis, larger magazine release, HK o-ring barrel bushing and proper accessory rail. When I compared and shot one side by side with my USP 45 Tactical it was easy to see that it is an improvement.

Is it worth the premium price? That is the $600+ question.

** Edited to add

The USP and the HK45 use the 1911 grip angle. Though some of the controls are different they are both closer to the form & function of a 1911 than the Glock.

If you like the Colt Govt, the 10 shot polymer framed BUL M5 is a great value, and a very nicely built example of the Colt design. It is slightly smaller in grip than a para ordnaceIf you have small hands, the glock 21 SF feels even beter in the grip than any other I've tried.

I love my USP and I don't have large hands by any stretch. IMO, you'll enjoy the single action trigger compared to Glock's safe action trigger.

Now before I get glock-stomped - don't get me wrong. I have a Glock 22 and love it too. But the two triggers can't be compared.

It all good brother! My Glock trigger worse than any of my other handguns.

HK45, no question. I've been drooling over one for a while, but I can't justify buying another .45 when I just sold my last .45 to upgrade to 10mm. :D

The HK45 will likely hold its resale value better than the USP... at least for the time being...

No, Hk45 is not that large as I thought. I went out to my local gun store and I was lucky that they had one in-stock. I took the chance and held one, I can say for sure for small hands I have its fits like glove. I was very surprised that it was slim for a double stack handgun.

In fact I had USP tactical before as I got rid of it for a Hk45. Hk45 won me over due to grip and its a Hk :D

But if cost is a issue, the M&P 45 is another choice you should consider.

the CZ 97 is truly a fantastic gun, however you forgot to mention it's size...
actually it is bigger than the HK...

First choice if you have very big hands! It is a great pistol, I love CZs, but even my gynecologist-length digits can barely wrap around this beast!

CZ07 is about the size of a 1911. Slim grips should ease the need for longer fingers. For those who are digit challenged a would go with a 1911 Commander size with thin grips and a short trigger and alloy frame.

:ninja: ...back from the dead

Don't buy any polymer framed .45ACP until you're tried the M&P45.
