For those of you that have built polymer 80 serialized lowers, have you ever had an issue with the rear pin (one that goes through the pistol grip) shearing off?

Just finished a build and used a glock pin set (rear pin is polymer) and after 6 rounds the rear pin sheared on both sides.

Pin went in as easily as it does on a normal glock lower.

Can i use a steel pin or is there an issue? Gun cycled fine so i don't think there is an issue with the rear rails not being aligned or sitting higher or lower than they are supposed to.

Any info from those experienced with a polymer 80 lower build is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

When I built my P80, I used a Strike Industries anti walk pin kit, all steel pins. Have close to 700 rounds through it and never had an issue. I recommend you join the P80 Master Builder group on FB. Lots of experience for any issues there.

The front locking block pin and and the trigger housing pin are supplied by Polymer 80. That is, two identical steel pins and the rear rail system are included with the kit. One of yours missing?

The plastic OEM Glock gen 1,2,3 trigger housing pin is not the right one to use. It is not strong enough for the Polymer 80 design which has to hold the rear rails in place as well as the trigger housing. That is why they supply a steel pin for that purpose.

You can make a 3mm steel pin (.118-.119") if you have lost yours by grinding to length a #31 drill shank, or a 3mm drill shank (less common but same thing).
