Polymer frames and G96, Breakfree, etc....

Howdy Fellas,

Just wondering if G96 can do any harm to polymer frames? Also if G96 is ok, what type of chemical isn't good and what damage can be done?

NON CHLORINATED brake cleaner is OKAY for polymer frames.


Chlorinated will FUBAR the frame, so if your going for Brake cleaner, make sure its CHLORINE FREE

That's all they are now. Have been for more than 10 years.

Plastic is a polymer. Polymer can be a plastic or many other materials consisting of bonding monomers

Why bother with any cleaner, wipe clean with Q-tip and your good to go!

It's not that I want to put anything on the polymer but when I just want to wipe the gun down with G96 and I get it on the frame as well I would like to know if any damage will result. I would also like to know anything else that can damage the polymer so I know what to keep away from it.

I don't know of any gun related products that will damage a plastic frame. Lot's of other stuff will though, so when you're substituting stuff from Canadian Tire for say, G96 (oooh, that smell), be careful. - dan
