A friend of mine sent me a Twitter tweet over the weekend from the Polysesouvient group, in which they sent a catalogued (with photos) list to newly minted Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino for guns they would like to add to the ban. They sent a list to Bill Blair mid-May last year of further guns they would like to ban and there were no PCCs on there.

On this latest list to Minister Mendicino, however, every single PCC that is in circulation is on the list, including the PC Carbine in its stock configuration...it was classified as "assault style". I couldn't believe what I was seeing. But then again these gun grabbers have no logic in making their assertions.

It would be interesting to see these groups provide updated crime stats on any gun crime reduction since the ban. We all know they won't, because there has been no reduction in gun crime. And I'd love to see any statistics showing PCCs were used ANY crime in Canada. I doubt this will be forthcoming because it doesn't exist.

Clearly their goal is to ban all semi autos - the "assault style" is just a distraction. That being said, I am definitely going to be in the market to buy any PCCs that I don't already have.

Their goal is to ban all firearms. Including non-firearms, like airsoft. Look to Australia to get an understanding of it.

Once you understand that, it makes life easier.

Once you understand the government can not control your life in any way, shape or form, then life gets easy.
Fight or fall, you rule your faith !

My only surprise is that is has taken them this long to get added to the list

EVERY centre fire semi is on the chopping block for the next round.

why semi-auto only? they want to ban it all including air soft gun ... the problem is we are not united. gun orgs are not into the fight and i ve seen that in europe: hunters versus shooters ... when they took very well care of the shooters guess where they went ... except a few countries we re loosing at a very fast pace. nothing with to do with politicians right or left united nations and ue are ruling those controls ...

they WANT to ban everything but they know that even middle of the road people think that is too far.

The very public strategy had been to make a big cut every few years.
They have been saying "no one NEEDS a semi auto to hunt" for years now. Now the middle of the road people believe that because no one on our side has been countering that narrative effectively

So Semi is next.
They may leave semi rim fire for a bit but its turn will come eventually.

in my lifetime I expect to see only bolt action and single shot / double barrel shot guns left

is your lifetime expetancy that short lol ...

The beginning of the end of private firearm ownership in Canada started in c1977 and was cemented in place with the passing of the Firearm Act in 1995. I no longer see a way of stopping the slide towards a gun free Canada. Exceptions being the military, police, state actors and of course criminals & criminal organisations. In the meantime, I'm going to continue to own and use all my firearms for as long as I can. The heart of the beast is the current Firearm Act. Unless that changes, nothing else will. Unfortunately for us, government of any political stripe will never substantially change the FA.

All of this started long before some of you were even born. Of course the liberals will never be able to complete eliminate (confiscate) all firearms but that just drops you into the criminal category and you will be treated accordingly if you are caught. Welcome to the new reality, eh.

By calling the Ruger PCC Assault Style they can now call the Ruger 10/22 assault style as they are basically the same platform

Agree. When I saw that, it became crystal clear that the "assault style" is just a red herring.

It was interesting what was absent from that pictorial list though (I won't elaborate). Maybe it was an oversight on other platforms, but for the PCCs, it covered everything, which was VERY discouraging to me since that is what I mainly shoot.

I do think that the pressure from some provinces like Quebec and BC is likely putting the government on higher notice with regards to handguns, though with some provinces staunchly indicating that they will not be participating in a ban, it will make some interesting political fodder.

Agree with the advice - buy what you can while you can and enjoy them now while you can.

The US midterms next year couldn't come fast enough. I fully expect the Republicans to take back the House and the Senate...and hopefully like the Tea Party movement in the late 2000s/early 2010s, we can get some momentum up here to stop this move towards the socialist control of our government with the electorate waking up and realizing they don't like how things are going, just like they did in Virginia recently for the gubernatorial elections.

Trudeau has been elected in 3 times now, with what we are about to live through with the coming inflation I can't see him doing nearly as well in our next federal election.

All things come and go in cycles. Hopefully after he is gone Canada can live through a decade of CPC governance and some of this damage can be reversed.

I wish I shared your optimism.
