Polys Targeting PCCs

I wish I shared your optimism.

Same here. Pretty much all of us have voted PC all our lives and how is that working out? Yeah, exactly. The last PC govt had the ability to stand up for firearms ownership in Canada and they did very little. Anybody thinking that a PC govt after Trudeau will get us back on the right path is woefully ignorant. They threw us under the bus in the last federal election and they will do the same if they get back in power.

My only surprise is that is has taken them this long to get added to the list

EVERY centre fire semi is on the chopping block for the next round.

All firearms are on the list. They cannot ban all of it at the same time. They have to do it in small chunks and use those small chunks in an election campaign. It will keep them voted in since it pleases their voter base.

This is great news. The May 2020 OICs prohibiting 1500 models are a historical step for #GunControl, but they are incomplete. If Canada is to have an #AssaultWeaponBan, it should include all of them & be encoded in law. We fully support @marcomendicino on this @liberal_party #cdnpoli

Bratwurst should be along shortly to compile a list of any they've missed.

Or heaven forbid they go to any of the site sponsors listed above and sort by “in stock” - should we remove those hyperlinks, do you think? Don’t want to do the anti’s job for them, after all.

Iam glad they are banning items in small chunks, it would really hurt my bank account to just have one big ban.

It's very considerate of then to release the list ealry on with beautiful colored pictures as well.

Thanks Poly, you just made me blow my first 1st quarter 2022 gun budget already, my credit card hates you more than I do.

Well, if there is any solace in any of this, it is that it is fairly apparent now that the parts of the US have finally hit the "I've had enough" button on the wokism/socialist progressive agenda. If the recent Virginia gubernatorial elections are any indication, people are starting to swing away from Democrats with the Republicans winning all the top level seats (Virginia has been Democratic for a long time). Biden/Harris have the worst popularity numbers in recent memory (even worse than Trump/Pence at their worst), and gun and ammo sales are at an all time high. If this continues which I know it will through the midterms next year where the GOP should take back and the House and Senate, this momentum and swing by to more conservative values will no doubt trickle into Canada. Yes, Trudeau was elected again recently but this may be on the backs of both a weaker CPC candidate in O'Toole, etc. There did seem to be sharp drop in polling numbers for the CPC after O'Toole's alleged flip flop (not trying to rehash the election - it is over and we will move on).

Historically, the left and right leaning parties have ebbed and flowed, both in the US and Canada. We are primed to move back to a conservative type of government soon. The electorate are fickle and no one party or leader stays on for a long time. And people in general are seeing the "progressive" agenda turn to ridiculous levels and are once this impacts them personally they will see it's not all its cracked up to be and vote accordingly. So while yes, I can see why it is hard to be optimistic, the political winds are starting to shift in our favour. Now whether they do in time to stop more bans, I don't know.

My opinion - the next step won't be another ban. Not for NRs that have essentially no paper trail. I expect their next move to be a reclassification of all semis to restricted so that they can build up another list for future OIC ban.
If they banned NR PCCs/semis now, compliance would be low. But if they reclassify them, promising you can still take them to the range if you get them registered, people will line up to register their PCCs/semis.
I hope I'm wrong...

That is a very interesting perspective. I'm just trying to formulate this in my pea brain...so if all SAs are reclassified to R...and I have an NR and decide not to register it, I would essentially be in possession of something that the government views for which I need a ATT and I would be screwed if ever caught with it either at the range or in transport. So for those who don't register them, the government will still not know we have them, but then legally we won't be able to use until registered. Then once registered, they now have their list of where these things are, and then can do another OIC or extend the ban list and now the NR's locations are all known to them... It is an interesting theory, and definitely quite plausible given the government's propensity to do nefarious things.

Not everyone has their RPAL. This would make a lot of hunters criminal overnight which would drive compliance down in my opinion.
Even if there was an amnesty period for people to get certified with their RPAL then most people who never had an interest in it could go out and buy NR's which seems to be exactly what they're trying to stop.
I'm expecting more of a registry system if anything. If they can get everyone to simply register their semis with the promise we can still take them out hunting then they'll have a higher rate of compliance along with a paper trail for any future bans.
Just my 0.02$

"Let us not hear that (registration) is a prelude to the confiscation by the government of hunting rifles and shotguns. There is no reason to confiscate legally owned firearms."

I put forward that exact scenario when the registry was removed by Harper. The new battle lines are around classification and it's playing out imo this way.

How is Poly "classifying" common hunting and modern sport LG and SG?

As "assault style".

If I'm not mistaken a previous banned member alluded to rumours of quiet talk circulating between Poly, CGC and the Liberals on expanding and reclassification back when they first got in and now we have blanket FRT changes and more lists created by Poly.

We are dealing with some of the most malevolent and evil people in a generation.

Our grandfathers and grandmothers would know these people.
