Poop test: What is this

This was not far from my house, but I have not seen this "type" of poop.

We have a healthy population of Mule Deer, but it is normally in loose pellets.

My money says summer Elk scat?

Have you ever seen elk in your part of the woods?

Could just be moister-than-normal mule deer scat too. More water intake, or moist foods = softer, moister scat.

I have never seen any elk in the area that Lionhill lives. I grew up my first 20 years on a farm a mile or two away from his house. Mule deer like crazy, the odd whitetail, a few moose and some black bears.. Last year he saw some turkeys in the area and I was a little shocked that they had moved in there but I recognized the area from his pictures

Seriously, I've seen deer feces like that, but they'd be white tail on this side of the country.

At first i thought it was a little statue of Allen Rock.

Depending on what they have been eating deer droppings can have different appearance.

More moisture (succulent plants) in the diet causes clumps of droppings like that.

definitely deer droppings, they tend to stick together when they are eating green vegitation...usually we see it when we are scouting in the fall when the deer are eating dry grub.

i've heard from a few people that this is typically left by bucks. whether its true or not i don;t know. but, i have personally watched a small buck poo and it looked similar to your pics.
