Is it just me or has the quality of even well know pistol brands really suck compared to late 80's early 90's? (the new semi custom 1911's not withstanding...they're better than the old.). I used to have a 92FS from Italy and yes, better finish than US one. I also used to have a Beretta 92SB compact type M...beautiful trigger and blue finish. The Berettas (old italian ones) used to have solid metal construction and crisp smooth triggers, with smooth satiny finishes. New ones...plastic parts, poor triggers, poor finish and sights sometimes poorly regulated.

Now some new pistols are great but I find it sad that some of the old classics that I entered adulthood with are changed or no longer available...The Beretta's being a prime example. I also hate the light rails wrecking the smooth lines of guns like the Sigs. Heck even new guns like Walther P99 have major design changes after just a few years!!!

Any one else miss the old smooth guns???

I like the old shotgun better, I do also notice that many newer pistol doesn't have the same quality as the older one, but the world is just like that. We all miss the good old day right?

Personally, I think it's by in large, a result of a all the trade restriction/embargos & B.S. that's taken place in the U.S. in the last...close to 20 years. They limit/control the market accordingly on such items. Look at the history with the U.S. relartionship on arms trade with China/Norinco products. There is a lurid history if you know your WWW.

In general, the quality is better. Exceptions are the old S&W N/S Frames, the old ones are to die for. Regards, Richard:D

Like my first generation M-27:D yep, well worth it! I think the blueing goes right through to the other side.....

Yeah, I liked the early mid '80's & '90's for handgun purchases. USGI in nice original condition were a lot more plentiful & prices reasonable. And like Richard said... the older S&W wheelguns were first class...

Too much plastic today...:(

tried a new M29 (anniversary thing) and tried the trigger expecting the famous smooth model 29 action.

It was horrendous, nothing compared to MY 29-5. It had that transfer bar nonsense as well as some kind of lock thingy for the dumbasses who dont know what a trigger lock is.

I was so dissapointed, old in this case was much better
