Poor shooting Rem 700 youth model

I agree with that concept. I just thought these things could shoot an inch or maybe a bit under. I have been thinking of shooting trap with them…
Action is with $700 ish
$800 would get you a prefit .
I think the action has got good value,so why not?
Get a 6 mm barrel, spice it up a bit lol
Maybe get a cheap wood stock to throw on

Well back from the range. Two factory loads in 95 and 100 gr as well as the 70 and 75 gr hand loads all shot around 3/4”. Largest three shot group measuring 0.77” centre to centre.
So, it’s not my shooting ability, nor the kids. My handloading is still acceptable. Just have to find a new stock for these rifles. A range friend pointed out yesterday that the stock was touching on one side. Just have to find some stocks for these. I would like some B&C stocks but then I don’t believe I can cut them down later for kids down the road.

Well it's shooting factory round very well it seems. It probably is your really old tins of powder, probably not getting uniform ignition. I would try a magnum primer, if that doesn't help, just use that powder for barrel break in a a new rifle, or get rid of it.

It shot basically the same with factory or my reloads of IMR4350. The powder is fine. I once found a couple old cans of 4064 at the dump in Fort McMurray. Brought them home and used them up!
I am good now with these rifles. Just need to find some stocks.
Can you just remove matarial from existing stock?
I had issues with a the plastic 783 touching on one side, I just removed matarial from the barrel channel, wasn’t pretty but it worked.

’m the same way even today, math is hard for me. When my daughter was borne I started brain washing her to love math, telling her that if she is good at math she will understand lots of stuff more easily! She’s 18 now and it worked!
No I haven’t. I have a couple savages but in HS stocks. The stock on these youth are not the same as the SpS stocks. They seem even more flimsy. I will probably try a Boyd’s stocks if the prices haven’t gone too retarded. Might be the same price as a B&C by the time I get it across the border.
You probably already know this but the theory suggested is not a rule in reality. For example; a rifle that shots 1 inch at 100 yards may not shoot 3 inch groups at 300 yards. It may shoot 1 inch groups or even 5 inch groups at 300 yards.
If you are wanting to re stock these rifles Bell and Carlson makes youth stocks for the model 700, is sourced mine from prophet river. I put a youth stock on my model 700 mountain rifle in 7-08 for my kids to shoot and it has worked out well. I had trouble getting 100gr 6mm bullets to shoot in my browning 243 until I tried IMR 4064 with 100gr sierra game kings. IMR 4064 isn't listed in a lot of reloading manuals but sierra gave me the load and it was good (36.2 gr IMR 4064). It has also worked well some of my friends 243's.
Most of the Remington Youth rifles have a flimsy SPS style stock. A good stock with an aluminium bedding block will likely improve the accuracy. Try a Bell & Carlson if you need to keep the costs down otherwise grab an H-S Precision.
I have put together a few Rem700 SPS in 7RM and only one shot well from the factory stock. As for the rest, they all shot an inch or less after dropping them into H-S stocks.
