Hi I'm a big fan of hunting from ground blinds. This spring I was going to take my blind down after turkey season ended and a tree branch broke off and fell through my blind. There's now a 16x16 inch V shaped rip in my roof.

In the past I've used some camo gorilla tape to hold small tears together and I then stitch the area with a needle and thread. It's a slow process and works just fine on wall damage from broadheads and whatnot. I've never repaired a roof and I don't want to scrap this blind. It's a really big comfy blind for me to bowhunt from.

How can I patch it so that it holds up and I don't get soaked every time it rains. Has anybody tried that infomercial waterproofing spray can stuff they sell all over?

Thanks

A buddy of mine patched a hole on his pop up using material taken from a broken umbrella and he patched it from the inside using contact cement. I guess it was like doing a patch to tire tub, but on a bigger scale. Any how, he said it worked

Got it at gander mountain abut 3 years ago,it's a 3 man blind so I have room to turn and draw my bow. It gets set up for bow season and turkey in the spring usually not out in open fields. Since they're going out of business I've got no warranty. I'm going to do a test with rustoleum leakseal on some other material to see how flexible it'll be so I can close up the blind after the repair. I'm thinking about the gorilla tape and stitching to hold it together and if the leakseal is flexible when it dries I'll waterproof it as well. It usually stays inside the tree line so I'm not worried about the sun ruining the gorilla tape. Just looking to get a few more years out of it before I replace it.

The camo Gorilla tape isnt great for prolonged outdoor use. The elements will break down the tape so that the layers will start separating and come apart and all you'll be left with is the adhesive. If you plan on stitching it anyway, use a more permanent fabric

A bear ripped up one of my Ameristep dog house blinds last spring, I was not in it at the time which was nice. I also used contact cement and nylon material from an old stuff sack bag. Works like a charm and it now has character marks.
