I have had a few Ameristep dog house blinds an there good for one guy. I like to tuck mine in to the thick evergreens witch helps keep the snow and wind off the blind very comfortable they way I have it set up. I also use a plastic lawn chair those cheap ones and cut the legs down so I see perfect out the window with my adjustable gun rest. The whole set up is cheap but its what you do with it. The only thing I wish these blind makers would do with the windows is get rid of the Velcro and use magnets less noise.
I also use the Ameristep Dog House blinds. I have 3 of them set up in in fall all equipped with Cablelas swivel chairs. I look and shoot out through a 1" x 8" opening in the zippered section, so the noisy Velcro is not an issue for me. They work well for me and have shot many deer out of them. They don't like heavy snow and the zippers will freeze under certain conditions but that can happen with any brand of blind. They are certainly not bear proof as I had a momma bear and her two mischievous cubs trash all three of them in one night this fall. Took a trip to the boat top repair shop place, bought some camo canvas and used contact cement to patch up all the rips and holes. Had them all back in service in a couple days.
These dog house binds are perfect for one person and if you watch the sales can be had for around $80 to $100 bucks. So if a bear does take a liking to one and you can't repair it your not out to many dollars. The swivel chair is gods gift to hide hunting as you can silently move into just the right position for the shot, again Cabelas puts them on sale now and then and they can be had for under a hundred bucks.
In a few locations this year I am going to build permanent stands with metal sides and roof as the bear raids are getting fairly common and there are only so many times you can patch up a nylon blind.
