Well after a summer of working hard back up in the Yukon, I have finally been allowed to return to my B.C. residence and do a little "hunting". Well OK hunting is probably a gross exaggeration !! I shot him at about 30 mtrs on my lawn after seeing him from the kitchen window, I stalked him for about 20 mtrs in my slippers to get a good angle. He's a monster, probably only 120-130 inches short of B&C.........But he's skinned and hanging in my shop and we had heart and a backstrap for dinner tonight..........he was absolutely delicious.
Popped him with my full stocked Rem Mod 7 MS in 7-08, using 140 gn Sierra flat base and a Leupold Vari X II 2-7. Hit him just off centre of the chest looking right at me and the bullet performed as expected......complete blow up and never penetrated the diaphragm and he ran less than 40 mtrs. This is a perfect combination for these deer and area and they kill very quickly when put in the right place at relatively close range, without over penetration.
Sorry no photos as I haven't figured out a new photo hosting site since Photobucket went full mercenary.

Heavens no..........I wear the MANLY suede short moccasin style slippers with the welted waterproof sole. I think they were actually designed for deer stalking on the lawn..........

imgbb.com works great that's what I now use. Congrats on an easy freezer filling! Post a pic of the slippers too otherwise they're the pink bunny ones haha

Lovely! Always great to gun down some food.

I get disheartened if I see my food running away when hit. That's why my go-to Deer rifle is my .416 Rem. Mag. Boom-flop! :p

Congrats, I found long ago that the most productive way to hunt WT is to just look out the window.

A 22-250 flattens does and small bucks like they were hit by lightning.

Sounds like my season. Third day into the hunt I came in around noon, having seen nothing that morning. I had an appointment in town, and as I took off my hunting duds my wife drew my attention to this:

His hoofprints were a measured 14 feet from the window. The horizontal lines in the picture are the slats of the Venetian blinds!

No, I didn't run out in my underwear and slippers to shoot him...but the one I got a couple of days later was even smaller! :)

Jjohn............looks like the twin to the one I got yesterday.
Does open tomorrow for 3 weeks with a bow..........I think I'll arrow one from my hay barn while eating the apples under one of my apple trees about 25 mtrs from the barn door. Another grueling hunt..........I have 4 does that feed there about 3 or 4 times a day, which is what brought the little buck in yesterday.
