Here's a Port F block I received a while ago. Finally got around to doing the photo shoot of it. You don't see very many of these compared to the G and H blocks and they are a bit different in the acceptance patterns and of course have a flat buttplate stock on them. I know my good buddy Chris has one of these but I'd be interested in hearing from other CGN'ers that have one.

This one is not mint by any means but pretty decent condition. It will eventually be featured in Vol. 2 by Bruce Karem and Mike Steves when it comes out. All matching of course but no matching bayo with it.

Nice rifle!

I really like Oberndorf Mausers.

It looks like it has a chip in the stock at the rear of the trigger guard/floorplate.

They seem to have a tendency to do that if the bottom metal isn't removed carefully.

Gross a flat buttplate! Thank god it has a hood or Id be really disgusted.....good photos though buddy.

Iiiiiif i have to say something nice, I really like the acceptance on the rear band, and the edges are nice and crisp.

Just a bit of history - In the 80's when they were selling the Ports in unissued condition in Canada, price was around $180 to $200 with bayonet.

Yeah, it seems stable though. Who knows when that happened.

Probably a long time ago.

It looks like it has been repaired and stained over since.

BTW, I really like your photography skills. The white background really brings out the detail well.

If you don't mind me asking, what type of camera and flash were you using?

Thanks MapleSugar! I'm really not doing anything too special for my pics and any one is welcome to pm me for details.

Basically, I'm using a Nikon D3200 (any decent DSLR would work), a SB700 flash bounced off the ceiling (again any hot shoe flash would work), and a cheap lighting kit off ebay. Aperture and ISO settings are adjusted as needed and finally, any pics that need it are run through a photo editing program.

Ha! you can work your D3200 better than I can my D5100.

That SB700 sure is an expensive flash.

I have an old Vivitar 636AF that my brother-in-law gave me for my Canon AE-1 years ago. I wonder if it would work on my D5100?

It was designed for film though, when digital cameras were still science fiction.

I also have a cheap Yongnuo flash that I paid 60 bucks for with free shipping from China. It works just as good as the SB700 for 90% of what I do and gets good reviews by pro's even. I still use it for some shots and also as a slave when I want to eliminate shadows or what ever. The model I have is a YN-560II. I'm sure it works with all Nikon DSLR's and should work with your D5100.

I spend several hours on each shoot. I might take 300 shots of a rifle and end up with 50-60 in my album. Lots of fooling around with settings and various lighting angles to get the pics I want. Plus, there's the editing and uploading so the time adds up. I think it's worth it though. I think representing the rifles properly is important and makes everyone's enjoyment of them that much better.
