Hello all,
I have a few long range rifle in .308 and .223 and I've decided that I want to use my T3 Tactical as a portable easyish to carry precision rifle that can be used for plinking from 1-300m and for coyotes.
I think my dilema has more to do with optics than with shooting sticks vs bipod vs backpack to keep me on track. I'm tempted to put my SIII 6-24x50 on the rifle but it will add bulk, weight and too high a magnification for closer shots. As well I would like something with an illuminated reticle for low light situations. A 3-9 would be great for hunting but I'm not convinced it would be good for plinking because I would not be able to see bullet holes well at 100m but then I think that 4-14 like the Viper PST would be a little too bulky with all the big knobby turrets.
I have been shooting the rifle with an SIII 10x42 but I want some variable power. 10x offers a good view of the target at 100m but I think I would like a little more.
I was also considering a scope with bullet drop turrets but I think they will only offer approximations when I could just laminate a shooting card to go with standard turrents.
Does anyone have some good suggestions for how I should set up this rifle for snowshoeing / ATV / range?
I'm thinking shooting sticks to get about vegetation but they aren't too stable. Maybe a tripod?
A basic sling will do me fine.
As for the scope ... Anything between 500-1000$ I guess.
