Various manufacturers produce after-market barrels for semi-auto pistols. Can anyone offer any experience with a ported barrel on a pistol? Do the ports make any significant difference in the recoil on a 9mm?.
If it get's you hard, go for it. However, standard pressure 9mm ammo doesn't kick enough to need porting. It adds noise, flame, and cost for little real benefit.

Adding noise and flame is always a benefit! And the cost is a one time, fairly negligible thing. The biggest concern, would be for use in competitions, where they would not be allowed, or if it were to be carried and used defensively, you could get burned by the ports if firing from close to your body, but that's not typically a worry north of the 49th. As an only pistol I wouldn't recommend a ported one, but if you've already got a few, why not?
