And yet another question. ...the bolt on her..is it supposed to be blued or in the white ??

As far as I know:
In 6.5x58P, in the white.
Most, if not all of the 8x57 conversions, blued.

Hello all...I just picked this up in a trade..Portugese mauser 1904 as best I can tell,..but I know swf about mausers...So..where can I source a sling and bayonet for her ?..I'm guessing repro as orginals will be tough to find ?..She also needs a cocking piece for the bolt..where might I find that ?..A nice rifle overall with a clean bore..so she deserves some tlc...cheers. .R..

I'm betting it's not a Mauser, but rather a Portuguese Vergueiro - which is a Mannlicher action mated to a Mauser-type box magazine.

Yes, a männlicher in Mauser clothing. Not a bad thing, the actions are exceptionally smooth. A LOT of these were scrapped for the bottom metal - custom builders really valued the hinged floor plate in the 60's and 70's.
