Looking to rely on themselves, women are taking up hunting in record numbers in B.C.

The volunteer-run BC Wildlife Federation training on trapping, wilderness survival and handling their prey properly has seen a steady increase in interest in recent years. The Globe tagged along to see what participants are learning

the best that can happen to all of us. my wife and i has been hunting together for almost 2 decades. she endured very bad weather and most of the time coming empty handed with a smile.
 
My wife hunts too, so does her sister, and our daughter and niece! My hunting buddy’s 10 years old daughter was with us for a 8 days moose trip last year and she will be there again this year!

My wife isn't diehard but she enjoys local hunts for the drive and scenery as much as the taking of an animal. I am slowly getting her into coming fishing with me more and she seems keen on that even if it's just sit back and enjoy the day.

She sure got pissed off the other day though..... boy oh boy..... fuming!
Nothing like a pissed off serbian gal venting from the passenger seat while I'm trying to drive LOL
We went to Lone Butte Sporting Goods just down the road from us because our shaw internet service kept dropping while we were trying to do her LEH tag entries.
I was not gonna do the LEH but last minute she convinced me .... and my brother decided to get back into hunting and he is putting in..... okay then.
So we are at the counter and he says to my wife..... "you know you are the one that has to shoot the animal if it's your tag right?"....... she played it off politely like she usually does but Holy Hell!!!! when we got in the car...... man my wife can swear in two languages at the same time..... it's crazy.

So Mark.... owner of Lone Butte Sporting goods.... where I have spent over 5grand in the last year and a half...... that's a hell of a way to encourage a woman hunter.
She was gonna take to facebook and burn him on social media but I suggested that was not the best idea. Small town BC and word gets around.

Hopefully my wife gets a draw...... I wanna get her on video taking a BC bull moose and send it to that clown in an email LOL

it is because some idiots used the name of their wife for getting drawn. i ve seen that in quebec as well but i do not get it someone will say upfront not knowing if he s dealing with an huntress or not ...

I get that but we live right down the road.... we are regulars in the shop..... he knows my wife is a successful hunter and has been for the last 6 or 7 years now..... we buy all our supplies there. He was being a #### and was outta line. Not sure I'll be spending another dime at his shop. My wife won't be going back there I know that for sure LOL

But yeah that guy sounds like kind of a douche to imply something like that, especially if there's no reason to think otherwise. Obviously dodgy stuff does happen, as anyone who's ever been on a few hunting forums or whatever can probably figure out, but that was pretty classless of him.
