Hey there,

I've been looking at a lot of POSP side mount scope options for the CZ858. I know they will need to be custom mounted and a bit left of center, but willing to accept that.

My question is - how do these optics compare to common rifle optics here like Bushnells and Nikons?

Also, what POSP would be effective? I'm looking at 6x42s and 8x42 fixed, and not sure what would be best for my rifle.

I've been looking on Eastwave dot ca and kalinkaoptics dot com

did a site search but couldnt find the info. Thanks for the help!

The are a few reasons why them POSPs are pretty ballin'.
The SVD reticle is nice, and once you know which shevron means what distance, good times from there.
Built in rangefinder for 1.8m tall target is nice
The illuminated reticule where you can change the color with a different bulb (red/green).
Sturdy construction with no rings; if the base is mounted properly it will always be upright.
It is also quick detach for iron sight goodness, and will keep zero when you remount it.
The rubber eye piece puts your eye at the best relief distance, and blocks out wind and condensate from breathing.

They are army scopes though, with 'rugged', 'simple', 'lowest bidder' coming to mind. No fancy multi-multi coated lenses, but it works.

Thanx for the info. I was thinking of poping one of these on my sks. What do ya think? A waste of time or should I do it?

I've seen it on both the 858 and sks. Seems the biggest complaint is being left of center on the 858, but in my opinion there are far worse problems. I'd say giv'er!

As far as the sks goes, if it's an accurate one, why not? I know it looks good at least.

i'm putting my 8x42 fixed on the SKS...i'll let you know how it is once i get to shoot it
Looks like a grate solid scope, BTW sksman has them a bit cheaper then Kalinka...

ive got a 4x POSP with 400m reticle
, illuminated red
its good.. optics are clear ( with a slight yellow tint ) , but the rubber eye piece can wait in the car.

sits off center left on my AK, you will need a cheek riser though ( if the diimensions of the 858 reciever are similar in height ? )

but for the 7.62x39 do you really need 8x ?

my cheek riser twists up or down and locks in either position, so its very easy to go back to normal height and shoot with irons.
i wish i could have got the scope in black, i dislike the grey hammer finish

Satain, those are described as custom made by the person who posted the pictures and you hotlinked to; He promised to also post blueprints, but those haven't showed up yet. A friend in a machineshop makes these for a bottle back in the USSR, here not so much.
