Gun nutz,

I will be attempting to mount my POSP 4x AK scope onto a CSA side rail for the vz58. I have been told that i must file down a small "notch" to ensure the locking lever will clamp securely. Do any of you have experience with this setup?

Thanks!

How about the dust cover mount with a POSP that isn't attached to the side mount, this way you could still get a left hand charging bolt carrier.

My posp is used and if it gets hit/scuffed with shells I'm not worried. I would be more concerned with cases falling back into the chamber. My posp is an ak clamp and the west rifle rail is dragunov style

The CSA side rail will need to have a slot ground into it inorder to use Some mounts such as the "AK universal mount" the locking lever on these mounts also act as the recoil lug. The L shaped dog that is activated by the lever has an accentric hole through it that won't close on any side mount that doesn't have a vertical slot in it.In a pinch you can remove this dog lever and the mount will still clamp on the rail but I believe it will eventually slip off do to recoil.

Did Westrifle just press the front sight back or do you have to removed those two pins to be able to press it back. I kind of wish this is what CZ and CSA would of done with the longer barrel Vz 58s. Looks way more awesome.

Do you know any Gun Smiths that would be able to do this?

Poor choice of a stock for that scope though. Won't even get a chin weld with that.

Ive had a posp scope on my sa 58 now for 3 years. The rifle came with a factory side rail on it. no issues as of yet. Its accurate and strong. I have no idea about the "issues" people seem to be having. will post pics tomorrow.

the rail on the rifle.

the scope mount

everything together

the tape on the lever on the scope is to help prevent rattling. i do dot have the leaver adjusted correctly and the lever moves verticly while walking making a clicking sound. The mount is tight on the rifle and hols zero.

Here's my my contribution. I fabricated the side mount, the rail piece came from sniper ready, I welded it onto a piece of 1/8" bar steel, grinding, fit then finished with gun blue (pic is the fitting stage raw steel). Looks like one piece.
I drilled the receiver to accept 2 machine screws, used blue Loctite. Drilling the receiver isn't to complicated, use a drill press, avoiding the original serial # is the hardest part. I stamped the 7.62x39 and serial on the rail, not as a replacement #, but rather as an alternative for quick visual verification.
Works great. I just started zeroing, so far so good. I love this scope.
I'll post the actual rail later today.
IMO you'll probably want to add a shell deflector, shells ding the scope with pretty good force. I'm in the process of fabricating a removable shell deflector.

I did a bit of work this weekend. I made a shell deflector, added a mounting bracket to the rail for the deflector, angle ground the mounting face for the POSP rail, blued the rail and deflector to look arsenal grade. The POSP does not contact the shell deflector. I also stamped the rail with cal. and serial # info + made a removable cheek pad, replaced the wood foregrip with a NEA rail which is more practical IMO. Still need to test the deflector and zero.

Guys, Do not get these scopes with "AK type mount" , it looks f%*#ng weird, extremely high on VZs. Get the SVD/PSL mount version it will sit much lower.. like this.. :
