Possible future Red rifles?

Oh I would really like to get that Type 81 in a non-restricted barrel length. Its just Id have to think long and hard before wanting to pay $1200 for one. I won't be the first person in line for one, thats for sure. If they get approved, i'll wait until they're flooding the market like the Vz 58 and wait for the price to come down. I may even look for a used one a year after they come out.

The Type 81 rifle has a 17.5" barrel, they only need to add another inch to be of nonrestricted length, unlike the nonrestricted VZ58 the extra barrel length won't be dorky looking or even noticable.

There's also a Type 81 LMG which has a 20" bbl, so it would be good to go as is.

Woooah hold on, I somehow missed the news that Type 81s are possibly being imported. Is that actually happening? How in the hell are those not considered AK vari-you know what never mind, I'm not complaining.

Type 81s may be coming to Canada?
Orly?
These?

Interesting but I personally wouldn't pay more then $300 for one as it is all I'm willing to risk based on three factors...

1) Chinese made firearms are hit and miss fit and finish wise (pun intended).
2) The RCMP could decide on a whim that they scare their Liberal overlords and confiscate without compensation.
3) Principle...$1200 is a crazy high price to pay for a 30 year old Chinese surplus rifle.

Also it better be non restricted and in 7.62x39 or I'm less then interested.

I'm guessing because the action is completely different. It is more an SKS variant than an AK one, that's for sure.
TI's have a good track record for importing cool guns that aren't subsequently deemed prohibited by the RCMP. I have faith this one will be no different.

I am however very pissed at a $1200 pricetag. Very, very pissed. That's abusive for an AK-looking SKS.

I agree the type81 is over priced at 1000 especially since the NORC AR15 M4 is selling retail for 699. I have preordered a Type81 for 850 from CanadaAmmo just because the RCMP is being so ridiculous. I would probably not appreciate it as the items in my collection but again making a point is always an expensive Endeavour.

Russian should make new rifles not based on AK. Their new strike one is awesome. Need more rifles now

Russians were so concerned with replacement parts on the battlefield that they had modeled rifles to accept the same parts as the AK.

However newly designed rifles are innovative and do not follow the old doctrine of design and replacement parts.

I don't have a problem dropping $950 for a CSA or $700 for a CZ-858... or even $3500 for a Swiss Arms. But hell will freeze over before I pay $1200 for a chinese gun, which is bound to be inferior to the CSA/CZ or even to a Russian SKS in nearly every way.

If Norinco quality is any indication (including their SKS's), the Type 81 will be a $150 gun at best, quality-wise... and its' manufacturer will still be making a sh*tload of profit even at that price. Just because it "looks" AK-ish doesn't mean we should be suckered into paying through our noses for it.

Are you saying that CZ858 are quality and are worth the price ?
They are made from el cheapo components/materials....

lol Glad someone agrees with me on the CZ's being cheap.

I got flamed last time I mentioned that they were one of the most overpriced pieces in our market quality/cost of production to price tag wise :D

Solid rifle no doubt and I own one and enjoy it, but $700-$800 for one brand new!? Madness lol

I've been witness of CGN CZ fanboys and CanAm fanboys.

Lmk if there is other trends.

I have a vz58 and a numvber of Norinco products. I am not a fan of fit and finish quality of the vz58 at least the one sitting in my safe that is but again to each his own.

i have a cz858 and a norinco sks sitting in my safe. the norinco has machining marks all over it. definitely built with dull worn out tooling. the gas piston is crumbling on the end due to such low quality metal. while my cz has machining marks on the reciever the rest of the parts are top notch. id way rather pay 700 for my cz than 1200 for a stamped reciever chicom

$1200 for a type 81 chicom is nuts!!!!!! $699 would be high, but people will pay for that AK look.
$699 for a ChiCom AR15 so why the hell are they going to sell the now surplus type 81 for $1200?
Shat the T97 is only $999
I'll spend the $1200 on the MPAR .556NR american made with a lifetime warranty over a uber cheap surplus Type 81.
