Thanks for sharing this picture on the forum. I had a rifle that wasn't properly indexed and when I got it fixed the feed ramps din't match up right. It's a shame they don't have anyone working at norinco that believes in quality.
Chinese receivers are forged. Not cast. I am not terribly sure how voids like that would happen with a forged receiver..... or how they could make it past even a cursory glance at the assembly stage....

I agree with wbaad. The pitting appears to be on top of the machining. (Corrosion) The bumps & bruises under the heel of the receiver would indicate it was bounced around a while before being used. I understand they are not making anymore receivers. maybe it was at the bottom of the barrel and one of the last ones put together . My guess
Do you mean Norinco will no longer be building M305s??
Wouldn't be surprised if they don't. The original market was for the USA. A Canadian market alone is not worth it to them.Do you mean Norinco will no longer be building M305s??
John, in my opinion that is rust pitting. To me, the giveaway is how the machining look on the bottom heel flat. The tooling didn't grab pit edges and oblong them, I believe the pitting occured AFTER machining. We generally don't know how long some chinese receivers sit in storage between assembly and finishing runs. My suspicion in that one got rather rusty, but was blasted prior to being finished and assembled. Pretty nasty looking now! But probably just cosmetic.
Sorry for the necro thread, but it piqued my interest.
They are shipping them over here with MIM bolts now that fail after shooting around 100 rounds. I don't think people will be buying them much anymore.
