Was just thinking.... this is by no means the best solution if a ban/confiscation is implemented but it will at least cost them a helluva lot more $$$.
Most of our ATTs state we can possess any gun for which we are authorized to have and have the reg cert for. If we know the guns are banned and will be confiscated on, say, Wednesday, why doesnt everyone send some of the guns they own to friends they trust. First they will be in the mail, untouchable (hell, even Canada Post can't find them sometimes). Then, they will be in a legal possessor but not at the main residence. Even if the cops get a warrant to pick up the gun, the warrant can't apply to someone else's house (especially if they do not know where it is. This might be more useful if only some provinces follow the confiscation order (thank god I live in AB). Further to this point, do you have to tell the police where the gun is ? At the very least, they would need ANOTHER warrant, wouldnt they ? I then would if FOIP would cover you if you did not disclose that information ?
Just a thought - anything to make life hard on those bastards IF things go south for us. Like I said before, I am glad that some provinces MIGHT opt out of the confiscation order and thankfully, Alberta would probably be one of them.
