'Possible' new toy

Very cool. One of those has been at the edge of my interest for quite some time, but never enough to dump the cash on one. Enjoy, and post some targets if you get the chance.

By the way, I'm glad to see this didn't go the way of the gifted double rifle thread.:stirthepot2:

I'm still 'working' on picking up this one. The target 'thing', will do once I start some serious playing with it.

Clue me in, your reference to the gifted double rifle thread, what am I missing??

Awesome pics Johnn, that a sharp looking "toy" !
Your picture posting prowess is excellent, unfortunately I have tried and tried to no avail and cannot for the life of me get the hang of it....when I do the pics are microscopic thus no damn good.
Sorry for the rant, please keep posting pics for us to enjoy . :)

Thanks, but it hasn't been an easy task for me. It's the first real effort and if it wasn't for the coaching and patience of H4831, I'd be going down for the count. It was my one & only New Years Resolution this year and I didn't make it any too early.

JOHNN PETERSON;

I invite you to take a moment, drop by our site, we have YOUR Quigley in stock as well as numerous other models.... >>>> http://www.marstar.ca/gf-pedersoli/Pedersoli-1874-Sharps.shtm
BTW for any ordered befor Christmas, we pay the shipping
John

Planning ahead a little, but IF the deal doesn't materialise on the the rifle I presently have the 'use' of, I may be giving you a call. I'd be interested in one of two;
  • Pedersoli 1874 Sharps long range in 45-70, PD-S.788-457
  • Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Quigley Sporting Rifle in 45-70, PD-S.789-457
In many of the reloading manuals, there are three basic groups or action strengths. Where exactly does the Pedersoli Sharps action fall, I, II or III?

Well, at the range it was on the 'cool' side today but with the curtailed access to our local range:rolleyes: by a logging Co. and the municipality, I thought I'd best get out and 'try' the Pedersoli Sharps, just to make sure it would 'go bang'. Actually, I did a couple of 'tests'. The second was with the 500 S&W using the Sierra 400gr. The `long & short` of it, with a plinking load the Pedersoli put three into 0.574" at 50yds. This was using a light load 344grPB cast.
A side issue but the 500 S&W did well also. I was running a test using the 400gr Sierra at 25 yds. Bottem line, any bullet & load combo I`ve put through it, all do great.

Johnn, if you kept the emails of instructions, could you send them on to Kevan?
I guess I could find them in the "Sent Items," if not.
I no how you felt and how Kevan feels.

I'll send Kevan a PM. I did find the instruction PM's you sent me and I'll forward them on to him if he's interested. Thanks again.

In my setting up for:p Christmas and upcoming Birthday gift suggestion lists;), I went on your website again and checked out some items. I'm still hopeful my shooting buddy will sell me the Pedersoli Sharps I presently have the unlimited loan of. If not, I will definately contacting you for one. Either way, I'm also interested in a couple of your long range sights. Two I've been looking at are listed as sold out and I'm wondering if they are still out of stock and if so, when do you expect to get more in.
  1. CHAP-SIGHT-B
  2. CHAP-SIGHT-CH
Also on the top tang of this one, there appear to be two small tapped holes 2 1/4" apart so I assume the bases would fit these holes for mounting?

HAVE A LOOK AT THE SIGHTS HERE >>>>

Including the new scope we have....

THE CHAP series will be in February 2010....

For your hi end rifle I would recommend the PD series.... USA 170, 171 or 172 set.... Real class.

Hope this helps
John

I'll put 'sights' on my list;) and showed what I was looking at to my wife, who happened to be walking by:D.
Thanks for the help.

Beautiful firearm!

I'm quite content with it. Ideally, it would be nice to have one by Shiloh etc but if I can con my buddy out of this one, for a 'shooter' I'd be happy with that:). A set of long range sights will be the first order of business if/when I get it.

I haven't shot it much, other than with some light cast bullet handloads, just to make sure it would go 'bang'. It's been pretty cool lately for any serious shooting. In addition, access to our local range has been somewhat restricted as it is now behind a logging Co. gate,:rolleyes: weekend access only, but that's another story:(.

As short as the first session was, shooting a 345gr RNFP BB, 13.5gr of Unique at about 1200 f/sec, the three shot group @ 50yds was 0.574". Definately looks promising. If/when I get to buy it;), I may poke a few jacketed bullets through it but the intent is to use cast bullets only. The few I have lined up are;
  • 325gr RNFP GC
  • 345gr RNFP BB
  • 405gr LFN BB
  • 420gr LFN GC
  • 530gr LFN GC
I 'need' it:D and it'll be a great item to practice off hand shooting with.
