Possible problem with Norinco 7.62x39 ammo?

Whole case was left in the chamber, needed a case extractor to get it out and even with it it was hard. Round appeared to be regular depth in there but I will confirm once I get home. Also, the split was only part way, not all the way.
And once I get home, I will get a picture of the depth difference. Its not huge, but I know that a couple 1000th of an inch can make a huge difference.
A case extractor can generally only be used of the head had separated, since it grabs the case mouth. Sorry for all the questions, but more info helps everyone.

If the who cases was left, a rod down the bore would be enough.

a couple thou on seating depth will make virtually no difference since the throats on these guns are so long. also OAL length can be a poor indicator because of different ogive radii/shape.

I have no doubt of that. I don't see that cleanliness in any way contributed to this.

I'm just trying to give as much information as possible about the condition and what not of the rifle, revelent or not haha.
Just trying to verify that headspacing and everything was fine on the 858 as I purchase all my firearms from my range and the owner mic's everything out as he receives them to make sure there is no problems with them. Also I never had feeding problems or any problems with this rifle either.

OO battery discharges do happen; not anyones "fault" and the gun may be totally "in spec", just due to the design; especially the changes from f/a to semi.

I tried using a rod to push it out but it wouldn't even budge. She was stuck in there tight
So I wonder what your smith did, since a standard case extractor would not work with the case head in place.

It wasn't a bought extractor, he made something on his cnc machine a couple years back he said to do the same thing. It didn't look like that at all.

I have had several different vintages and commercial/milsurp norinco, fmj, soft points, and i have never had a problem like this, so i wouldn't be soo quick to jump on (all) of the ammo as the problem. Even if it was the ammo it might have just been the one shell. I had tried testing some older stuff to see if it was corrosive and slighly squished one of the cases and just being out of round a tiny bit. Well it looked like it went all the way in, but luckily with my sks it wouldn't fire without being completely locked in or else i would have had an out of battery fire. Was this first shell you shot maybe on the very outside corner of the crate and was damaged and squished a bit?

The boxes I took with me were all from the center area, and the crate wasn't damaged either. All the rounds I put on the table as I was getting ready appeared to be uniform, but I didn't check them all as it was all in a perfect condition crate and perfect condition boxes. And I have previously shot about 5 crates through the rifle with no problems

Don't think it's the ammo. Looks like early discharge to me.

x39 doesn't have double charge peoblem since the case is almost 100% full.

No problem here with the Norinco 7.62x39 I received. Cool muzzle flash and went off at 100% (60rds in FSN VZ58). I am happy.

Just one thing to note; There is Chinese surplus and norinco NOS on the market. they are different.

BTW what range/bunker is that?

Windsor Action Pistol Club. 25yds indoor. Loud as hell in there. This is the Norinco you just got in stock... got it last week.

Actually i have found Chinese ammo as good as US made. Until you have seen the inside of an ammo plant, you may want to reserve judgement.
Which plan? Plant in China? Have your seen it yourself ?

P.S. I used to work at the ammo plant for 2 years.

What plant or plan did you work on top of? On the roof? Newbie can't put a proper sentence together but is an ammo expert. Thanks for your input.

Mine shot fine, that's good enough for me. If people are having problems, I am sure C.A will stand behind their product, if that is indeed the cause.

It is a good idea to check every round before you load it... I have found flaws in factory and surplus ammo before.

Yes, being in the business affords me the opportunity to visit ammo plants. I have been to a few.

Which plant did you work at?

FWIW I am not getting into a pissing match, I am genuinely interested.

At the plan that was producing original 7,62X39 ammo.
So we have narrowed it to the USSR. I assume Tula or Klimovsk/Moscow, given that Klimovsk is the technical centre? Or is it a secret ;) I may carry this on to PM, as I have so many questions that will get too ammo-nerdy for this thread.
