Possible T81 New Issue

TI told me first batch and second batch are the same.

NO WAY, I was ready to jump in the 2nd run but oh well...

Yeah, I definitely cant see the manufacturer updating there tooling and manufacturing process for these rifles, then again they might if they got a massive military contract, doubtful though.

As far as I understand, whatever makes it to the market, yes, is from the same lot. Not likely to be produced again unless on the back of another military contract. Indication is those are around 3 years apart. So the next run may be never. No indication was given for exact number produced in this run, that I saw anywhere, but it was said that more were made than the 1000 on the TI pre-order.

I read somewhere they were into them for 200us each.

20 years ago from a pdf of US magazine article. cost of a unit in large military order of type56 AK was $35 USD, t81 was 3 times more at that time. So $100 USD. Add current chinese labor inflation. In small orders units cost much more, so may be that's why TI waited to piggyback on military order.

Working it backwards. Everything TI sells is overpriced by 20% for novelty, so it's $800, then minus usual Canadian mark up of 100%.

So by my pulled out of my own ass calculations, landed cost of t81 in Canada is $400 CAD.

I'm just going by what TI posted. It was in one of those enormous locked threads.

It doesn't matter how much they paid, none of us could have ordered one and got it any cheaper. They cost what they cost because we're willing to pay it and they need to make money so they can pay their employees and still make enough that it's worth their time and effort.
If any of you were importing rifles you would mark them up to what you think the market will bear just like they did, it's their business not their hobby so profit is what pays them to grow their company.

I read somewhere they were into them for 200us each. Only game in town if you want it you pay.

That's BS.. People have speculated that because we know the Chinese were charging $200 USD for T81's just before the 1994 ban on Chinese arms. That was now 23 years ago - think about it. Odds that a $200USD rifle 23 years ago is a $200 Canadian rifle today in our comparatively smaller order size? Doubtful in the extreme.

Nope. Never happened.

I read it wrong it said IF we bought them at 200 US. I missed the if. Either way they made enough profit, I could care less what they made,I just want them to send me my dam rifle.

Hopefully asking for it to not be a bent one at this point is not asking to much since they are now aware of the problems

All straight rifles are gone. Only bent rifles are left. ;)

It seems you can ask for your preferences, bent to the right or bent to the left, your choice. For an extra fee you can get a rifle with vertical bent, but you must hurry, supply is very limited.
