Possible to change IC bores on a sxs shotgun.

Im intrested in buying Side by side 12 guage Stevens Model 5100, both barrels have ic bores. I was wondering if its possible to change on of these bores of mod or full. I knwo normal shotgun there are additions to change it, but being sxs are these still possible to use.

No it is not possible to add material to become a mod or full, unless it can be threaded for chokes, but most old sxs guns have thinner barrels.
 
This leads me to ask the question, does anyone out there know how much barrel material is required for threading?

Obviously I'm asking about barrel thickness measured at say mid-point, not directly at the muzzle where the fixed choke currently resides. I've thought about having my old Savage 30E threaded for chokes, but I didn't know how much barrel material is required or reall what I want to do with the shotgun right now.
