I have a little challenge for you Commonwealth military collectors. I bought this post card for a specific reason, and I was wondering how long it would take the eagle eyed group out there to figure out why. I don't really collect post cards, and the subject matter was rather boring until I looked a little more closely at it. My bet at this point is that Claven2 will be first with the answer, but lets see how it goes.

Here is a low resolution version:

Have fun.

TheWharGoul picked it off in about 6 minutes! In February of 1915, "Rifle, magazine, .256-inch, Patterns 1900 and 1907" and "Carbine, magazine, .256-inch, Pattern 1907" were approved for use by British troops. These were all Arisakas, and there are a few of them floating around in this photo. The comment about the bayonet was very close, but if you look at the distance between the grip and the muzzle ring, you will see that they are too far apart. Nice job!

The low res photo shows very little, but in high res, I can pick out three arisakas :) They all appear to be T38's with dust covers in place.

The prize is a big invisible box of respect. I mailed it this moring, so you should see it within a few days, probably broken into little bits and left on your neighbour's porch.:D

I would very much like to come across one of those British marked Arisakas, but this post card is as close as I have ever come to seeing one. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything, but you can try!
