Post freeze pistol purchase

After a long wait my rpal was delivered right before the freeze so i was able to buy 5 crappy overpriced handguns in panic.. none that really wished to have….

If they unfreeze i will probably sell them all… because the ones i got were junk but thats the only things i could find with the money i had.

My guess is that when they unfreeze, people will go bezerk again and all new transferts will take 6 months again.

So even if you had your rpal on time, you wouldn't have many choices to pick from anyway.. Every gunshops sold their best handguns , special edition , special colors , back in june.. in september/october, the choices were limited to pretty much surplus and left over, and they were overpriced.

What im trying to say is that you didn't miss the boat in october…. You missed the boat in june.

As for what you can do legally.

Make friends at your range club.. they will let you use their handguns… and since you have your rpal, you might be able to use their handguns more freely (without someone standing beside you…)
You won't have to worry about transportation and storage either.

Buy a $5000 antique.. but it comes with some safety risks and the pain to find the ammo for it. Not worth it.

Work for a gumsmith, few gunshops have a private range for testing, you won't be able to bring anything home but atleast you can fire handguns at work if they have a private range.

You can also work part time in any shooting clubs… this will allows you to try a bunch of guns for free.

I also want to add that owning a handgun , having one in your house is kinda pointless unless you are a collector or something.
You can't use it at home anyway.. it also comes with a higher risk to get a criminal record if you don't store or transport it properly.

If they decide to unfreeze, you will be able to buy something the first day.. those who don't have thei rpal won't be able to.

^^^This is a silly opinion, unless of course "or something" encapsulates the millions of Canadians who are just your plan old, run of the mill, normal gun owners?

It is only a matter of time before somebody "leases" or "rents" a handgun long-term under the guise of "Lending" it to the the otherwise pistol-less RPAL Holder in question... Where there is a need, there is a business opportunity.

I was honestly thinking about this the other day. It's not a bad business plan, been lucrative for the unlicensed firearm community for a long time.

Bad idea. If the hand gun goes stolen or gets used in crime, you are ultimately responsible, since you are the registered owner.

HA HA HA!! So true... believe it or nor it is way easier to ilegally acquire a pistol for a non-licensed individual from Jane-Finch than it is for a train certified individual to legally acquire it. Trudeau is an idiot...

Trudeau is well aware of this.....driving up crime rates is part of their plan.

I am wondering about the wilderness carry avenue and how hard it is to get. I am constantly in remote areas for work. Winter road trucking, road layout, grubbing snowmobile trails with my excavator for the gov't often including several kilometer walks back to my truck at the end of the day in the dark, prospecting the next work areas in my several Crown leased pits. Wonder if all those instances would give me grounds for application. I've had to hike a chainsaw a long way for bear protection once and would much prefer a 1911 on my side.

i'm in the process right now, ask me in a month or so how it works out! i have a mineral extraction company and often am in remote wilderness alone prospecting so i have applied. We will see if they deem this dangerous enough work to approve.

One loophole you could try is loaning someone some money and them letting you hang onto a handgun for collateral. Make sure you have the registration certificate as well.

I know a few people that had years of time to get a RPAL, but they waited till it was too late.
or got it at last minute and paid way too much for something they aren't happy with, or one said a lot of crap, one crap gun is enough

Is there any loophole or possible way I can still aquire a handgun? I git my RPAL days after the freexe and missed my chance. What option do I still have?

First step for any new RPAL holder is to join a club. Preferably a true club (non-profit).

If you join a club that's serious about competition, and you're serious about competition, then someone will lend you what you need. (It's legal, and there's a process to follow).

So your first step: find a good club.

Olympic shooters and trappers can still buy handguns.
BTW, no offence, but olympic shooting is boring and trapping requires owning "traplines" whatever that is.

As someone else stated it is still legal to rent handguns and/or borrow them at a range.

glowie is asking ya'll how to acquire a handgun using a loophole, do give him ideas so he can relay them to thr gungrabber office.

Somebody said get a job at brinks, lol their atc is only attached to their uniform. Man, some gunnutz know less about laws than you think.
