OK after shipping 3 diffrent Antique Revolver parcels Regular parcel post with all over $1500 Insurance i am now convinced that Regular parcel post goes by Air when its insured over a Certin Amount.

Heres why i think that.
A parcel sent to Quebec from me in B.C insured way up there got there in 3 Buisness days.
The tracking shows everywhere it goes along the Route not just the Start and finish.
I shipped 2 other parcels Reg parcel post and they got there both of them as fast as any Past Expresspost.

So if your insureing the Parcel for over $1000 theres no advantage i can see to Expresspost at all.
All 3 had signeture required to.
So its abit cheeper shipping Regular over Expresspost the insurance is the Same cost either way its just as fast IF you load up on insurance to use Regular parcel post.

I am impressed with how fast theses Regular parcel post Insured parcels got to there locations.

Thanks Dingus! That's some good info right there. A couple of bucks saved that can go towards a die set for the new gun instead of CP's pockets. ;)

Now when are you going to ship me something cool :D ;)

I've dealt with him on two separate occasions and let me tell you that it doesn't get any cooler than the stuff he ships! A package from this guy is like Xmas in mid-summer, lol!

:D

+1 ^^^
On the number of exchanges I've had with dingus, I have found him to be a very knowlegeable and straight up guy. You will not go wrong dealing with this fellow. IMHO

+2, Sold dingus a little boxlock a few years ago, but still can remember how pleasant and straightup he was to deal with.

BTW, one consideration , if you do send Expresspost and it doesn't get there in the prescibed time, you geta full refund on your postage.

Cheers nessy.

I sold two restricted handguns recently:

-The first went to Ontario from BC by Expresspost, insured for $600 - Sent on Monday received Thursday.
-The second, a week later, went to Ontario from BC by Regular Post, insured for $550 - Send Monday received on Friday.

EDIT: I should mention that the cost for expresspost for the second gun was about TWICE that of regular post, and it seems to have shipped nearly as quick for half the cost.

Well since it is pat dingus on the back day let me chime in that Dingus has taught me more and saved me more money then you can imagine. Does a soul good to know that there are still a few honest guys out there who are interested in sharing knowledge and skills.
Ya shoulda been born a cowboy dingus! (or at least a blacksmith in some dusty cow town, preferabley at a smitty within walking distance of the can can girls and beer parlour.)

Thanks Guys
I have dealt with alot of great people on CGN buying and selling is just a Hobby to me so i can get more guns to fondle shoot for awhile then pass em on and get more guns to shoot and fondle.

Hey David i thought i was a Cowboy  what year is this??? i need my pills now. :D

Anyway so far this is great news that when you Insure Regular parcel post it goes Pronto.
If it happened just once id be suspect but 3 times in a row with a 4th one just mailed today going to ON I will be watching its time to.

Dingus, that is very helpful information to know. You just saved a lot of us some money. Thanks for posting that info. By the way, my diamond needle files are on their way. Thanks again for that help as well.

Oh, and Yes,
I have been with Canada Post for over 20 years if that bothers anyone.

I am impressed with how fast theses Regular parcel post Insured parcels got to there locations.

Hate to burst the Bubble Boyz!

Regular and Expedited parcels always go by Ground (Truck).
Expedited has a faster service commitment than does Regular parcels, but by ground.

There are service commitments on all mail, but not time delivery guarantees on all.

Xpresspost and Priority may or may not go by air.
If it is going to a local area address within Province it goes by truck.
Anywhere else by air to meet the delivery guarantee.

Sometimes certain items go beyond the time delivery guarantees. (service commitment in Canada Post Language)
Its just the luck of the draw in those situations.

Service commitment is defined as a standard set of delivery times for all mail but not guaranteed.

Anywhere else they go by air to meet the Time Delivery Guarantee.

Oh, and yes, if anyone is asking how I know this,
I have been with Canada Post for over 20 years.

Not trying to be a smart @ss, just telling you like it is.

Well you aint burstin nothin as i have stated in my frist post with lotsa insurance on Regular parcel post im getting Expresspost speed on all 3 Parcels mailed on diffrent days to diffrent locations.

it could be going by truck tho... but 3 buisness days to Quebec is as fast as express so they must be haulin ass in them CP trucks :p

I dont care if they fly it or Drive it or Hump it... if im getting expresspost speed on regular parcel post *because* of the Extra insurance (which i have to buy shipping expresspost anyway) then this is a Good thing.

Im watching a 4th parcel mailed Regular parcel post thats insured for over $3000 i will post how long it takes once its delivered.

Im gona check with CP supervisor and ask if once a parcel is insured over a certin amount does it change anything.
I have never seen ANY regular parcels move this fast.
I been useing Expresspost for 4 years now so i know how long they take to diffrent provinces.

I got lotsa refunds to (on there Expresspost garrenteed delivery times) because they have taken more than 4 Days or 5 days so id get a full refund.

I never stated Anywhere that Regular parcel has garrenteed delivery times.

Umm,
Im not sure what your reply to me means.
No one is slamming your statement.
Im not trying to be a smart @ss, but I see you are.
Im just explaining how things work, delivery times ect.

Insurance over 1000.00 gives you nothing except extra Insurance coverage.

If it makes you feel better go ask a Supervisor; he or she probably has been on the job for a year or so, right off the street.

You don't want believe me,
I only work with these products daily.

Try to help people here with some knowledge of CanPost and all you get is it thrown back in your face!

It can make a big difference in delivery times depending on what time of day the process starts and what day(s) of the week are involved. If you watch the tracking details on Canada Post for parcels you will see they seem to sit waiting at some locations longer than others - probably due to trucking schedules and volumes of shipments.

No im not throwing anything Back in your Face Mellow Out!
Im just Stateing FACTS as ive got the tracking numbers and happy CGNers to prove theses fast delivery times.

Maby i was just lucky but 3 diffrent parcels all makeing expresspost speed something is up.
I will watch this last 4th parcel and see what it does time wise.

I have shiped and received LOTS of Reg parcel posted parcels and they can take 7 to 10 days if your lucky.
You get the Odd fast one but not every single one.

Anyway im gona keep doing this cause i have to (ship Regular Parcel with firearms)

With all the NEG Threads about CP on CGN i thought posting something POS would be good for Once LOL.

OK just and Up date cause i promised i would.

The 4th parcel was mailed friday morning in Campbell River on Vancouver island B.C.
It arrived this Morning in far Northern Ontario.

It was mailed REGULAR PARCEL POST with over $3000 insurance.
Thats 3 buisness days.
Thats Expresspost speed in my books.

Thanks for the update, Dingus. Those Canada Post 'trucks' really haul a$$ when a fellow insures those regular parcel post packages for over $1,000. From now on, I'll do the same thing ..... much cheaper. Thanks again for posting your findings.
