this is my new 338 edge huskemaw scope really like it shoots great......going to put a nightforce on it just always wanted to try out best of the west scope ,i took closer look at my buddy s night force and it is better i think but it is also twice the money

my guess is your canting the rifle. Have a look at Defensive Edges ACI mount. Horus Vision also makes one thats about $80 with the mounts. you can also get just levels but I like to be able to tell my inclination as well.

scope

If you want to test your crosshairs, and your tracking for perfect vertical adjustment it is quite simple. Take a big sheet of paper, at least 3 feet long. Put your target up at 100 yards.. Hang a plum line from the top of your target. Draw a straight line with felt pen and ruler, following the plum line. Now make a crosshair near the bottom for an aimpoint. Zero your rifle so your hitting this crosshair on the line, your rifle being a custom build should be very precise. Once you have it zeroed, crank your scope up a lot, say 15 inches or so, more is better. Now shoot your rifle at the same aimpoint. If your shooting to the right or left of your plum line(15+inches high), then your crosshairs are crooked, and your scope will track left or right as you click it up. More clicks will be more error.

Make sure you rifle as well is exactly level when you do this.

A simple 6 degree cant ( so small you can hardly notice it) will throw your shot off 1/2" @ 100y. And it only gets worse at longer ranges.

Yes scope was litle off and put the bubble on fixed problem thanks ,how tight of group should a guy be able to shoot at 700 yards, would you guys also use the 300 grain smk or the 250 smk?

with that gun . 3.5" would be good shooting ! If your larger than 7" go back to the loading bench.

You have a really nice gun. no dout one that can out shoot the shooter ! ( not saying ur a bad shot. Its just a general term.)

At 700 I would expect groups under 3" vertical, the horizontal width depending on conditions, and how well you can read the wind.

I would also give the Berger Hybrids a go. You will have to single load them as they are very long, but they do have a higher BC. I got great results with mine. (seated .010" off the lands, 91.5gr H1000, nosler brass, CCI mag primer - note the load is only safe in my rifle since they are all chambered with different reamers etc..)

I use the 300 Grain SMKs in mine, with H1000. It seems like everyone I know ended up at H1000, so I just started there and went staight to happy. 1/2 MOA at 700 isn't much of a trick.

Everyone ends up with H-1000 because of those darn repetitious bug holes. :D

Every other powder delivers great short range accuracy (some offer outstanding velocity), but none offer the single digit velocity variation and last 1/4-1/2 MOA accuracy of H-1000.

FWIW the big SMK doesn't seem to miss (or even need) the last 100fps.

300SMK+H-1000= 338Edge Nirvana. :D
