I have a bad habit of buying and selling guns, but there are only a handful of them that I truly wish I still had. A Browning B78 in 45-70 is one of them. Hopefully I am smarter this time around, I received this 30-06 BLR as part of a trade deal. It is a takedown model, not sure if I care either way about that, but it is a neat feature to have. Other than that it strikes off alot of the criteria I have for a hunting rifle. It has excellent open sights (not a fan of scopes and where I hunt is dense bush, 50 yards is a long shot.). It is very light weight, has detachable magazines and has sling swivels installed. Plus it features lever action for fast shooting (if need be), but with the pistol grip I don't have to contort my whole wrist up to shoot the damn thing. Accuracy is good and it can shoot pointy bullets which is awesome.

You don't hear much about these rifles, but I got to tell you, it seems to be an excellent rifle and may end up on my no sell list :). Post some pictures of your own BLR, I may have to look at getting another one in a different caliber when funds allow, maybe a .243 or something.

Here she is:

358 Winchester,.. 2-7x33 Redfield,...This wears a Red Dot sight during bear season,...excellent rifle. 358win is a real thumper on Whitetail and Black Bears.

I also have a steel receiver 284 Winchester but this is the only pic I have of it right now. This is also a very nice working rifle..

I have to admit that I like the steel receiver on the 284 a bit better than the alloy receiver on the 358,..don't get me wrong, the alloy receiver is still a great rifle , but the steel receiver is a bit slicker. I know a guy in my area that has a steel receiver 358win and I have been trying to get it from him for some time now but no luck so far. I also work with a guy that has a steel receiver 7mm08 that I have been trying to get out of him,..If I could pick up those two rifles I would be one happy "gun nut", lol.
I love these rifles,...they just make so much sense for the way I hunt.

I was after the style you show and this gal came along at a gun show.
Shouldering it changed my attitude toward seeking the pistol grip.
My mitt isn't forced to one spot when gripping and shouldering the rifle.
More comfortable and I don't think I'd trade over.

Now to find that A5 with the straight neck.....?

Here are a few of my BLR's...

Pre-81 .308 Win & .358 Win, I mounted the red dot for my dad before last fall's deer hunt and still have to put the VX-3 1.5-5X20 back on;

I really wanted the takedown, but by the time I was ready to buy, they had stopped making it :( I've got a blued/walnut pistol grip in .243. I'll grab some pictures for you fellas when I've got it at the range in the next week or two. Scored a good deal on a couple spare mags yesterday too. You don't get to say that very often :)
