Post pics of your tactical shotguns

I just picked one of those up too. :) Great Shotty from everything I've read.

The Side Saddle works o.k? Does the rear sight interfere with removing the shells?

The sidesaddle works fine. The Mesa uses an elastomer to hold the shells in, so it's not designed to have them stored in there. The tension on the elastomer is reduced and they will fall out. But, it's aluminum and the loops are closed so they don't catch on anything. The TacStar is plastic and shells can be left in, but the open clips catch on things and IMHO it is not as strong as the Mesa. Pick whichever suits your needs.

I usually set the shells in the saddle so that the first 2 closest to the front are base-up so I can grab them and stuff them straight into the ejection port if I only need one more round for a stage. The remaining 4 are base down so they can go into the mag tube from the bottom. That way the sight doesn't block anything. Alternatively, you can load them all base down. I think it would only become a factor if you wanted to load the whole saddle with bases up, but most folks don't.

Mesa sidesaddle, MI single-point sling attachment, Litemount clamp, Fenix TK12 light, factory stock cut down and Decelerator pad installed for 13.75" LOP.

Ive got the same gun, i definitely want to cut the stock down, was it a lot of work... what was the procedure... thx!

Well, it kind of went like this.....get in truck; drive to local gunsmith; say "Jason, I want this cut down to this length and a 1" Decelerator added"; pick it up a couple days later. ;)

The stock on the Mossy is actually pretty decent. Thickest plastic stock I've ever seen.

Here are mine, all wingmasters.

Those are some great lookin 870's, I especially like the wood configuration. Are they chambered 3"? Ive been looking to make a tactical project 870, is there a reason you chose all wingmasters over the police mag? Ive been leaning towards a police model for the sole reason of the label being more accurate to a "tactical" shotgun. But I've often wondered which is truly the best 870 receiver.

They are older wingmasters. I don't hunt anymore and have no need for 3". I didn't pay more than $250 for any of them. The top one is an 18" barrel which I chopped ported and parked myself. The middle one I sold the barrel and bought a police 14" barrel and the bottom on I still have the big barrel and bought a Dlask 12". Even buying the barrels I don't have more than $500 in them. I confess I am a wingmaster snob (especially the older ones). The action is always smooth as silk and they shoot forever and you can get any kind of aftermarket toy you want. I took the Mesa stock adapter off, I have large hands and couldn't get a comfortable grip. Also I couldn't get my cheek low enough to see the front bead. I would need ghost ring sights to raise my field of view enough.

if you are parking them yourself then the upgrade to 3" would have been a very cheap proposition. even if you dont intend to use them, its still a good thing to do in case you ever sell.

nice guns.
may i ask what container you used to park them in? i need to source a ~36" long stainless tray for rifles, but in the meantime i wouldnt mind doing some 870 receivers and smaller gun parts.
