Hey guys,

Seems like I'm one of few here to run a purely belt-based setup for 3-gun... thought it would be interesting to see everyone post a picture and an explanation of why they picked to use what they did for 3-gun!

I shoot open in IPSC and want to shoot open in 3-gun. So I had a custom kydex holster made to fit my open gun and provide a bit of protection against knocks. The 2 Carbon Arms FSL-8 caddies are much faster for me than the regular weak hand load-4 technique, although I do have a spare 3x3 on there just in case.

Took me a while to find pouches that don't take up space, but the Ready Tactical pouches satisfy that requirement perfectly.

I have 2 more AR mags coupled together with a Brownells coupler to start (actually 4, but you get the idea...) giving a total of 40 rounds. I have just enough space to add one more AR pouch if it is a REALLY long stage...

Let's see your setups!

well here is my set up, its a mix of cheapest gear I could get, and best gear I could afford as I went along.

I compete in irons, I tend to carry way more ammo then I need as well, 60 rifle, 16 or more shot depending on stage, and 50 pistol.

two 4x4s, five pistol holders on the belt, and 6 coupled lar 10s on the chest rig, plus extra room for shotgun shells if i need more then 16 or need some slugs.

My setup is pretty straight forward. I don't keep things locked on my belt permanently. These days, I strip off anything that is not required for the stage, everything I have has a tec lock attachment so its pretty easy.

PLus my gear when shooting in the US is different....far fewer mags needed :)

Mostly, I see a lot of guys with far more ammo on their belt than what they would need. I have yet to see a single 3 gun stage with more than 2-3 dozen rounds of everything....but a lot of guys have 2-3x that much ammo.

What mag holders are you using for the LAR-15 mags?

They do look like Bladetechs indeed!

I just find that they take up more space on my belt than I'd like. The tension screws holding them together occupies about an inch on a already-tight belt... The ready tactical pouches I use are instead folded so they meet in the front - the pouch is the same width as the mag!

Its not that much wider than the 3x3 caddy you have. Plus, some rifle round counts can get upto 30 rounds with tough to hit targets

Easysauce, I figured out who you are by the hat. I see you aren't running the shotshell magnets any more.

I'll post my rig when I get a chance.

HAHA yeah... hard to miss me with that hat!

finally got the 4x4's in, my custom magnetics will be remodded for 2x shells and other projects now.

actually got a new safariland holster as well, just waiting on customs ect.

Thinking about changing over to just my IPSC belt??? Got an FSL 8 coming. Can add or remove shell holders as needed. This belt is a giant pain to remove anything.

This set up is not so good, for just shotgun matches, cant hold enough ammo for the odd stage.

no one runs a mag fed grizzly shotgun? :D

I have one but given I've not been able to properly accessorize it yet (Knoxx stock, etc.) I don't think the box mag is enough of an advantage on its own to take the bump into Open for it.

Properly kitted out... hmmm.... maybe... but even then you're competing with guys with +5 extensions and whatnot then. Unless it was a really long stage, they'd probably still beat you just based on having extra capacity.

If some one ever comes out with a 10+ round mag/drum for these, I can see them catching on in 3G up here.

Useless for anyone competing in the states though due to import restrictions on Norincos.
