Post your M14 accuracy

And maybe you’ll get lucky,
and find out, like this M14 owner did,
that with the right ammo,
His pig was a Princess in disguise.

Hi Everybody, If you can see my pictures 2 posts above, that's my M1A he's talking about, I certainly learned a good deal about "feeding the pig" and....I've gone from thinking my norinco was a stinko...to knowing that I can pull off ~1moa groups if I try, WITH federal bluebox @ $21 per box...

I brought out my rem700 VSF (left handed as I'm a lefty) to the party just incase I wanted to "drive some tacks"....Well, unbelievably....as soon as we got a scope mounted to the M1A (using the scope mount that I got to beta test)[writeup coming soon]...my Rem700 got outshot by my M1A...

(Although, once we switched from 150gr up to 168HPBT's, then it was 1/2" groups...but 1moa on cantire/walmart ammo in a $400 gun? c'mon!)

Anyway, lesson learned, get your gun, wipe off the cosmoline, clean it up, grease it, and find out what food it likes the most. :)

Scope mount review coming soon!

-Jeff

My M14 with nothing more than a USGI stock and shimmed gas system will do 2" groups, iron sighted off a bench at 100 yards. My load is 43 grains of H4895, 150 grain Prvi Partizan FMJ's.

I'll try and make some targets up to post on here :D

I'm looking around for a USGI glass stock but can't seem to find one. Where can I get one? What stocks are just as good as the USGI glass stocks?

Thanks! Right now this forum is completely essential for my gun hobby.

Mine shoots MOA ( Midsection Of Animal ) shooting prone using factory iron sights. :) 150 grn Winchester ssoft points.

Mine with a USGI fiberglass stock, the hated B-Square mount and a Leapers 3-9 scope will do 2.25" at 100 without any effort. I just stick the cross hair on target and tug the trigger. I'm no precision shooter but at 100 yards I can put most rounds about an inch away from aim point and that's all I need.

I did shoot it at a vintage match at Borden at 200 and 300 that was fun. I took second at 200 yards with it.

I would like to hit a clinic, op rod and unitize it and get a better mount, then I might get rid of my Savage 10 FP. ;)

SKSAVENGER ....
try mounting that bipod to the stock fore end rather than the barrel,
and let us know if the accuracy improves.

Thanks for the info, i already realize that. But it hits gophers in this configuration and thats what i was aiming for. I have a scope for it and shoot off a rest if im being serious

What about the bi-pod that attaches to the gas assembely Lazerus2000?

Does it still effect accuarcy or is it a wise tale?

Hey so I think I've seen one post for 200m.... what can you do at 200m? 300m? 400m?

Just curious. I'll try mine out once I get my scope.

The bottom left was with a cold barrel - plus I probably twitched.

I used my last 5 shots at 200 yards.

Not too bad, I'm hoping if I play around with some different ammo / use a proper rest I can tighten it up.

what do people expect from a 450 dollar rifle. then you will spend 1000 dollars making it shoot. its a fun gun and nothing more. my 60 year old svt 40 will do 2 moa at 100 meters. and its a garbage rifle that i refuse to spend money on. guys either by a springfield or spend money wiser.

Angry, i have shot xcr in 6.8 at 50 meters (i know not great distance but thats the limit of indoor shooting) and i have norinco m14, now i get 1.5 inch groups at 50 meters with my m14 and with the xcr, and for this reason i spent $500 instead of $2500, i love the xcr, looks great feels great but cant justify spending so much money when I (new to shooting, my experience only) can get the same accuracy at the range i shoot.

Scroll back a bit asshat. I posted a .5" 100 yard group with irons. I had a total of 500$ into that M14. Once I actually started shooting it with any regularity it gave me many sub-moa 100 yard groups...

Smaller then a bread box. - dan

about 2 - 2.5" at 100 yards and 4" at 200. It started as a polytech that wouldn't shoot. By the way my Norinco M14 was much better quality than my Polytech... I've seen this discussed as well. I don't think all of us would agree that to "spend money wiser" means buying a springfield. Even if your Chinese M14 doesn't shoot 1 MOA, what guy doesn't like to tinker. Right?

Righhhhttt????

You'd spend money on a springfield and not on your 60 year old svt 40?? But think about all of those years of service it gave you.

Where's the love?
