Post your Milsurp Pistols and Revolvers (looking for pics)

Sorry for the crappy pic, but it's late and the light is bad.

I just got these babies! A 1936 No.2 Mk1 and a 1943 No.2 Mk1*. I dunno for sure but it looks like the Mk1* has been parkerized over the original black finish. Anyone know what that black finish is called?

The bores on both are very nice and they are also both excellent shooters. :cool:

The Mk1 is stamped to death. On the cylinder, cylinder face, and all over the frame. The Mk1* is hardly stamped at all. Not even the Enfield Insignia on the frame. I don't know if this is evidence of wartime manufacture or of a refurb of some sort.

Really happy to have the set as my first milsurp handguns.

If you do get one, you won't be disappointed. They're a great little revolver. Not too big but fit a large hand just fine. They shoot super, with very little felt recoil. They seem to be reasonably priced too. There is one on the EE now that looks good and I think he's ready to deal.

Only setback is that ammo is quite pricey. But I'm saving my brass in hopes that maybe this winter I'll start reloading.
 
Adrian; the black paint is called suncorite and it is as tough as nails. There is a component of suncorite that apparently is extremely carcinogenic so we won't see anything like it in the future, unless perhaps a Chinese variant? (they don't care):p

I'm fairly certain that the cancer causing agents are only a concern while material is wet and or curing...you're good to go:)

Here's my tt33. Purists are gonna hate me. But I'm not a big fan of original grips. They're ok just like these better


These combat ones get my vote for comfort but are a little ugly. I like em a lot after a couple hundred rounds :)

These marschal ones look good and kinda give it a 1911 look but are hard on the hands after a couple hundred rounds :)

Awesome pistol for $179!!!! Everybody should have at least one. It's no race gun. mag changes are slow but ammo is cheap and mines pretty accurate.
 
Some of the fun is figuring out where they came from and what units used them- this Luger was picked up by Clarence Larson of 50th Battalion Calgary, June 6 1917 France according to holster flap-it was issued to 2nd Telegraphen Bataillon, Kompagnnie 4, Waffen 18
