So I'm going thru my reloading manual trying to decide what powder to use for my 303 brit loads....and there are a ton for the 180 grain jacketed bullets, which are what I want to shoot. Any suggestions from the experienced guys on this?

I've narrowed it down to a few but will take other suggestions:
-Accurate 2520/2230/2460
-A-XMR-4064
-V-N140 (get upwards of 2500 FPS with this one, not sure of accuracy?)

so I dunno....I guess anything that will get me close to 180 grain Federal loads since my gun seems to like those best.

Also depends on whats in stock at Wholesale Sports, which never seems to be much anymore

I use IMR4064. Works well and it works with lots of other calibres too so you can get lots of it at once and save money.

I also use IMR 4064. In the Speer #10 loading book it says:
.303 (.311 dia bullets)

180 grn bullet
36.0 WT.In grains = 2049 Muz Vel
38.0 WT.In grains = 2168 Muz Vel
*40.0 WT.In grains = 2283 Muz Vel* MAX LOAD USE WITH CAUTION!

150 grn bullet
39.0 WT.In grains = 2319 Muz Vel
41.0 WT.In grains = 2437 Muz Vel <--- Load I use all the time. :)
*43.0 WT.In grains = 2554 Muz Vel* MAX LOAD USE WITH CAUTION!

I post the Max loads for reference, but I don't personally use them as my cases tend to be 'well used', also IMHO 10 or 20 extra feet per second is not going to be noticed by the deer or the target on the range. :D

I use H414 in mine. Have had great results with this powder. I still have to check the velocity with this powder.

IMR 4064, check 303 british . org for loadouts. Steve did some pretty
good loads, and helped to replicate some of the old service ones. I
use his 150SP Hornady one for our comps.

Did a head to head comparison beween IMR 4064 and Re 15 in several rifles, both in 303 and 308, a few years ago. RE15 won everytime!
RE15 isn't the easiest or cheapest powder to find though.

you know what, all the powder you guys suggested to me have been sold out for almost a month now at wholesale ports (not surprised as I have a hard enough time getting powder for my 9mm handgun rounds), I had to settle for H380, it was the only one available that I could use with my 180 gr Sierra bullets. I told him that a month of being sold out is a little ridiculous but he never even awknowledged it....getting sick of that place already....time to start ordering it from SIR.

I bought IMR 4895 at Wholesale Sports in Lethbridge 2 weeks ago!

The last time Wholesale brought anything in for me from lethbridge, it took 3 weeks!!! I got fed the line "its held up at the border"....I've already stuck in an order to SIR for my 9mm powder and for IMR 4895....should have it within a week...

Better accuracy across the board - groups were typically half in most cases. I was very careful to ensure that other variables were eliminated in my reloads. Also found hat the RE15 seemed to be cleaner burning. Mind you, I didnt make an effort to work up optimal loads - I just used minimum load for each powder/bullet weight. Perhaps this gave Re15 an advantage...
