Powder Choice .45ACP

I use 5.2gr of Red Dot in my PT1911. Works great, and for me, it is the most accurate powder behind a 200gr LSWC in that particular gun. My Nork likes the same charge weight of 231 behind the same bullet.

Other powders I have tried include Bullseye, Power Pistol and AA #5. If you can get a hold of Handloader #264 (Feb 2010), there is a great article on the .45ACP and 200 grain bullets; complete with lots of load data.

I just wanted to add my ++++ for VVN320...

I just switched from 4756 to VVN320 in my .40 S&W and wow what a difference.. The powder is much cleaner and you use substantially less... It is also makes major power factor but is much softer recoil load than my previous powder...

I also use it in my 9mm and am glad to hear that you can also use it for .45 ACP reloading...

Could i ask what you load would be for a 200 gr bullet in .45?

That would give me a good starting place..

Thanks alot

for the 200grs. start with 5.2 and work up, 230gr start at 5.0, check the the VV / LAPUA website for a complete info, You can also request a handbook load data from them or just download. hope this will help.
