It's been a while since I've loaded ammo for my 222, but I always used BL-C(2) or W748. I liked the ball powder for metering. (I almost always shot 50gr bullets.)
I have a surplus powder that is close to BL-C- 2, wc 844 (I think, dont have the data close by). Very accurate with 52 gr hp bullets. And it was cheap when I bought it (8 US bucks a pound if memory serves). - dan
4198, H322, BLC-2, H335, W748 are all good. Use whichever is most plentiful.
I have never used any of the newfangled powders because I have been stockpiling for 35 years, so only use long established ones.
No doubt they would work equally well.
Of modern powders, Benchmark seems to be a contender. I haven't shot enough with it to be certain, but it looks good so far in a couple different .222 rifles.
